Fire and rescue teams from the Coastal District were called to the scene after a report was received at the 102 hotline. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Thick black smoke billowed from the ground floor windows. Upon arrival of fire and rescue teams at the scene of the incident on Barzilai Street in Haifa, the fighters identified thick black smoke that had already penetrated the building and was beginning to emerge from the ground floor windows. The fire, which started outside the residential building, spread inside and caused damage. The firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the source of the fire inside the building, and in parallel with the firefighting operations, they carried out thorough scans in order to rule out the presence of anyone trapped, both in the burning apartment and in the other residential units in the building.

Thorough scans and smoke release from the building After the firefighting operations were completed, fire and rescue teams worked to clear the heavy smoke that had accumulated inside the building. Thank you very much and God bless you.

This happened across the street from our building. My wife tells me that there were loud, angry arguments in Arabic in that area, which I did not hea. The scuttlebut is that the belligerent neighbor deliberately set fire to the apartment in reprisal for whatever they were fighting about.

I remember wandering the streets of Haifa back in ‘99.
Sitting at an Italian restaurant on Mt Carmel people watching was one of the best times.
It was also clear there were parts of the town to be on full alert.
Stay safe my friend!
