Socialist Mayor Unfazed by Departure of Rich [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 3 May 2026 | John Semmens

Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson laughed off what she termed "their futile effort to escape social justice. They think they will preserve their wealth and their income by relocating to states that respect private property and the so-called right to keep what they earn. At best, they will only temporarily spare themselves the retribution they so richly deserve."

Wilson predicted "when Democrats sweep the November elections and achieve veto-proof majorities in Congress, the redistribution of wealth prescribed by Karl Marx in his "Communist Manifesto" of 1848 will go national. Everyone will be taxed based on the ability to pay. Everyone will be rewarded based on need. Millionaires will be dispossessed. The indigent will be uplifted."

She went on to predict "failure for Starbuck's decision to relocate its headquarters to Nashville Tennessee. They're spending $100 million to hire 2,000 local yokels to vend their coffee to red necks. Do the folks in Nashville even drink coffee? I thought they were all-in for bourbon. Even if the relocation proves profitable, the new Democrat majority in Congress will modify the federal tax code to take a bigger bite out of those profits than ever before. There'll be no stopping the fundamental transformation of society that President Obama envisioned for America when he was elected."

Those people are out there and they’re not hiding anything. Even Obama wasn’t that bad. They can expand their influence the more things go down the toilet. If AI puts a lot of people out of work the envy and resentment will be easier to tap into.

Hard to understand her appeal. She looks like a 2 bagger.

Retri-friggin-bution? She said that? You’re right, they’re not even trying to hide it. They so richly deserve retribution? Amazing.

Odd that some moneyed dude hasn’t done what the Democrats always reach to, a Mangione type.

As someone who had relatives killed (Soviet show trial court condemned them to being “destroyed”) by Soviet Communists in what became Ukraine for being “Kulaks” (peasant farmers who were skilled and owned a milk cow, whose milk they sold), this kind of language scares the heck out of me.

The hope is that the over reach by the Legislature this past session (disqualification of many who run for sheriff in elections by an appointed committee, over-ruling initiative passed parent rights, passage of an unconstitutional and unpopular income tax, etc.) will result in a wholesale election of Republicans to the State Legislature this November.

I have ignored these semi news semi satire posts for years because I don’t know if it’s true or actual satire. It would be better if you could tell which parts are true and which are satirical the way the Babylon Bee lets you know right up front that they are satire. Maybe you are trying to be sarcastic?
