King Charles’ history of environmental activism comes to the fore

The British monarch urged Americans to protect the environment during his speech before Congress, and it’s far from the first time he’s stood up for nature.

King Charles is one of the world’s most vocal environmental activists — and he made sure to highlight his passion for protecting the globe in his speech to Congress on Tuesday.

Charles stressed to lawmakers that “our generation must decide how to address the collapse of critical natural systems.” He warned that “we ignore at our peril the fact that these natural systems … provide the foundation for our prosperity and our national security.” Charles received applause from lawmakers after these remarks, though most Republicans did not stand as Democrats did.

The British king’s comments on the environment highlighted his ongoing passion for conservation. Charles has been a leader on environmental issues since he first gave a landmark speech in 1970, when he was 22 years old, calling out growing pollution and threats to the environment, a stance he was ridiculed for at the time.

Despite this pushback, then-Prince Charles made environmental protections his key policy issue while heir to the throne. In recent years, Charles established the Sustainable Markets Initiative, which included a nonbinding pledge signed by hundreds of private sector CEOs to invest in pro-environment operations.

Where are the the “no kings” folks now? LOL

All of these types are looking for a trendy pop culture cause to throw themselves behind to get free positive publicity.

But then again, this is Charles we’re talking about. It might be sincere! The guy has a very small distance between the eyes: https://cdn.britannica.com/59/235359-050-910E0798/Prince-Charles-Prince-of-Wales-The-Guiness-Partnerships-Pondbury-Dorset-Dorchester-England-2015.jpg

On a serious note.

This is how I think these things really unfold.

He comes and gives a few BS speeches which boost his popularity and show he's a good guy that really cares, talking about nonsense like climate change.

Then behind closed doors you have conversations about Iran, Andrew, Ukraine, tariffs, the US / UK relationship.

Charles stressed to lawmakers that “our generation must decide how to address the collapse of critical natural systems.”

The problem with the world elites and liberal left is that they don't understand when to allow “evolution” or natural selection and when they are meddling or creating “enabling” bad things to continue.

Part of the natural process is for some animals to go extinct. Reintroducing wolves and grizzly bears into semi-urban areas is not a good idea, if we value human life. Ripping out hydroelectric projects to “save fish or preserve historic Native people's culture” to encourage flooding, loss of navigation, and water for human use is not going to change the urban growth and population impacts that have changed the land. Similarly, enabling drug addicts with safe needle exchanges is not a good idea. Both are bandages that do not address the root causes of fundamental problems. Both are forms of compassionate virtue signaling that does not address the root cause issues.
