Gulf leaders tell Trump: No ceasefire without ending Iranian threat

With about a day left before the deadline expires, the US president held a marathon of calls with regional leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. At the center of the talks was the possibility of a significant escalation in the fighting against the Iranian regime. Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed said there should be no ceasefire without removing the threat from Tehran.

If they want to call the shots then they need to saddle up and ride to the sound of the guns.

> Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed said there should be no ceasefire without removing the threat from Tehran. <

And who should remove that threat, paying in both blood and treasure? Well, the United States of course.

Thanks, Mohammed guys. Your input is certainly appreciated.

100%. They need to take charge of, and protect, that critical passage that their economies depend on. Iran has threatened their livelihood for decades. Time to take responsibility. They have sufficient military might to do it if they combine forces.

I’d like the US to stay focused on attacking from the air. But it might be useful to have Arab armies from the gulf move into Iran. They don’t have to really fight, but they should pose a threat as armored columns advancing on Tehran or other locations. The IRGC would have to come out and meet them. Then, before actual contact is made, the US can blow up the IRGC. Easy-peasy for our Arab allies.

“If they want to call the shots then they need to saddle up and ride to the sound of the guns.”

Ditto, ditto, ditto - which they need to do anyway. Their “peace” with Iran for 47 years was and is a fraud, with Iran just holding out till it had its own nukes and could really threaten - dictate to - them.

Well then they deserve all the destruction that Iran gives them.

At this point, anything less than total surrender with fundamental regime change is not an option.

If the Ayatollahs are left in control China, who now realizes it’s vital interests and precarious position in the Middle East, will treat Iran like a Chinese military base in the Middle East and flood Iran with China’s most advanced weapons systems including long range ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons technology laundered through North Korea

Ya want a ground war? Let the Arabs do it, they can’t without squabbling amongst themselves.

This.

I embrace the US role as a global superpower and I’ve never been one for turtling to fortress America.

But this is ridiculous. It is neither our place nor in the US’s best interests to be the heavy or the tough for other nations.

I am very uncomfortable sounding like I’m in any way on the same side as the many obvious, antisemitic naysayers - I am 100% not... But Israel? To say nothing of Saudi Arabia and their little gang of other fiefdoms?

Solve your own regional problems.

“If they want to call the shots then they need to saddle up and ride to the sound of the guns.”

Very true.

Unless I’ve missed it, most of the Gulf states have been more defensive in nature. They’ve been shooting done Iranian missiles and drones but if they want to get rid of Iran, they need to get more involved NOW!

If POTUS ends this war without achieving its principal objectives, it would be the most inglorious defeat the US has ever suffered.

- Destruction of Iran’s ability to project power outside its own borders was the Objective stated by General Caine at the onset.
- Permanent destruction of Iran’s nuclear program.

Yep, this sounds like a very reasonable likelihood.
