The epidemic of sexual misconduct targeting children in government schools is back in the headlines, and it is even worse than previously known. According to the latest estimates, a shocking 17 percent of students in government schools will be victims of some sort of sexual abuse at the hands of teachers and faculty. That represents about 8 million children.
Perhaps even more alarming than the exploding level of abuse is the fact that teachers’ unions and the political establishment continue protecting the perpetrators, critics and advocates say. Even in conservative states such as Texas, teachers rape and sexually abuse children with impunity, as exposed last year.
The fresh estimates come from Charol Shakeshaft, professor emeritus at Virginia Commonwealth University. Among her research specialties: “educator sexual misconduct.” Shakeshaft, the leading researcher in the field, has written multiple reports about the issue for the U.S. Department of Education and the Department of Justice.
The 17 percent figure comes from Shakeshaft’s 2024 book, “Organizational Betrayal: How Schools Enable Sexual Misconduct and How to Stop It.” Published by Harvard University, the book makes a powerful case that institutional structures and school culture are often complicit in the sexual abuse afflicting so many millions of students.

Including maintenance staff, bus drivers and all teachers and administrators at US public schools, the number of confirmed sexual assaults and related crimes to children was several times higher than the combined Catholic priests and bishops.
Children are in danger at public schools more than with the minority of evil priests, he said.

True story:
In the mid-to-late 60’s, our district’s elementary schools had a music teacher who would bring the kid whose birthday it was and have him or her come up to the front and have their butts paddled 7x if it was their 7th birthday, 8x if it was their 8th, etc. and I don’t remember there being any issues. The kid could chicken out and say “no thanks”, but for the brave ones who chose to play along, we’d all sing Happy Birthday and then the kid would pass candy around to classmates with one for the music teacher too...We’d even sing for those who chickened out!...On one such birthday, the boy (2nd grade) passed out Nestle’s Crunch Bars. One of the new girls’ name was Leslie and we used to call her “Nestle”...So when Danny, who did not chicken out, was finished passing out all of those Nestle’s Crunch Bars and looked around at the class, he smiled big and hollered out, “Hey look, everybody’s eating Leslie!”...We all laughed, all except for poor little Leslie. Should we have been counseled for such behavior? Were our psyches damaged? Were we victims or were we really some of the luckiest kids in America? It’s just one of my favorite memories of grade school. What a shame it would have been if things back then were like they are now.
Serious question: how do abusers keep their victims silent and how can a parent counteract that in cases of suspected abuse?
As someone who finished school long before things went woke, I don’t know anyone who was subjected to any sexual abuse. I know someone who got knocked on his ass by the school disciplinarian for bullying another student, but I never heard of any kind of sexual abuse by school staff. I blame the woke staff for the new culture of sexual abuse that is being reported.
That 1 in 5 is the same number they say about College women.
If you actually think it through, for these numbers to be remotely true there would have to be 10s to 100s of thousands sexual assaults happening every single day in our public schools.
There is likely much more abuse in schools that in Catholic churches. For some reason the church has paid billions to victims, real and/or fake, but I never hear about schools compensating any abuse victims. There must be some explanation, sovereign immunity maybe?

In the blink of an eye, notice the Narrative went from “Colleges are Rape Factories!!!” to “You little girls must take showers with adult Men!!!”. I’m not at all certain “crazy” really covers all the bases. Demonic is closer.
Add to that the abuse children face from other students.
Why are children forced to endure an environment that would win an adult millions in a lawsuit?
And...Then to added to that children are gaslighted when told school prepares them for the real world.
If only school teachers were allowed to marry. Predators go where the prey is. That is especially true of pedophiles.
