Republican senators have asked the Justice Department to investigate a Minneapolis-based charity, which nearly landed $1 million in taxpayer money courtesy of Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying it shows signs of being a fraudulent operation.
The nonprofit group Generation Hope MN bills itself as a “Somali-led” organization offering drug addiction recovery services. It says it helps “East African youth” get “culturally specific treatment.”
Republican Sens. Joni Ernst of Iowa and Mike Lee of Utah said something about the operation is fishy, such as its locations. One is a shared space with a Somali restaurant, and the other is a home in a residential area.
The senators also noted the organization’s relatively paltry staffing and financing, as reported to the IRS on its nonprofit tax disclosure forms.
“This spending profile suggests minimal direct services, opaque financial reporting, and heavy reliance on contractor payments — conditions that should trigger immediate scrutiny, not federal taxpayer dollars,” the two senators said in a letter asking Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate.
They said they saw parallels to some of the Somali-led operations in the news recently. Federal authorities in Minnesota have secured dozens of convictions in a $300 million pandemic meals program fraud scheme and suspect similar fraud in Medicaid.
The fact that Congress was poised to give the group a $1 million earmark, a specific grant of taxpayer funds, deepened the senators’ outrage.

Every day in the news all I read about are the ICE protestors. I cannot recall one single solitary story about even one Somali being busted for fraud.
Here’s the NY Post for example.....Headlines - ICE protests as usual, Trump bashing as usual, football, helicopter rescue....Where are the Somali indictments?? BILLIONS stolen, where are the freakin indictments?
These illegals are brought into the Country by the dems for their vote.....They produce animals who rob, kill and steal from the American Taxpayer who support them and once they come of age commit crime and the Taxpayer support them in prison. Its better to buy a herd of animals and keep them fenced in.
It’s been reported that audits were completed by accounting firms that were not qualified. That’s a task for the State Board of Public Accountancy.
It’s been many years since I performed a Yellow Book audit on a nonprofit in El Paso, but I remember my supporting documentation was over 1500 pages, as I separately tested 25 funding sources. Because their books were maintained properly, it took me a week to complete the audit.
A key part of the audit is obtaining written confirmations from bank accounts and vendors. No one individual can generate 40,000 fraudulent invoices, there had to be a team producing that fraud.

I’ve noticed the same thing. It is incredibly infuriating, isn’t it? Not one of the MSM seem interested in the hundreds of billions of dollars (maybe a trillion) in annual fraud.
They’re even less interested than the grifters in Congress.
