CNN Tries Having Its Cake and Eating It Too With Latest Stupid Griping Over Trump Economy

Narrative consistency on economic coverage is definitely not one of CNN’s strongest suits, and its latest pile of garbage it spewed to harangue President Donald Trump’s economy is case-in-point.

CNN Business Executive Editor David Goldman, who’s developed a reputation at MRC for being one of the most logically inconsistent economic writers at the decrepit network, launched another fallacy-rattled hit piece at the Trump economy.

“It’s about to officially become Trump’s economy,” read Goldman’s headline for his January 2 op-ed posing as news, where he excoriated the president for accurately blaming his predecessor Joe Biden and Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell for much of the affordability problems facing Americans still reeling from the 40-year high inflation crisis brought on by their money-printer-go-brrrrr policies.

With Trump poised to select a new Fed chairman, “Trump will have run out of excuses,” Goldman sneered. “This will officially become his economy, for better or worse.” But he later contradicted himself by hedging against the prospects that the Trump economy could turn out for the better with a sub-header that read, “The president can’t really control the economy.” Wait, what? So how will it be Trump’s economy if he really has no control over it to begin with? “

This also completely undermines Goldman when he falsely celebrated how America supposedly “won the war on inflation” under Biden in October 2024, because he didn’t bother caveating Biden’s illusory success with the same qualifier he dubiously pinned on Trump. So America won on inflation due to Biden’s leadership, but Trump’s influence is moot at best? “Ultimately, the president really can’t do much to control the direction of the US economy – a $30 trillion behemoth that federal legislation and executive orders just don’t have all that much sway over,” Goldman propagandized.

Anything bad, is Trump’s fault.
Anything good, proves that Biden was a great savior who was unfairly cast aside.

This can go on for 4 years or more.

TDS is real.

Just posted an article by the AP smearing Trump.

Same crap where through mere creative writing and without any facts they attempt to take away from the Venezuelan success.

Trump was masterful!

And regards the economy. Does CNN really expect me not to remember 8+% inflation and barely 2% GDP growth under Biden?

Now inflation is way down, growth is up. And I would argue changes are being made that increase the odds of sustainable higher growth.

Our MSM (most of it) is pro Democrat and lacks any sense of professionalism or objectivity.

Trump simply cannot do right by them.

Trump could bring about peace in Ukraine, in Gaza, and they will slobber over how Obama won a Nobel Peace prize in his first month in office, having accomplished nothing. They will find some aspect where they can claim the peace created by Trump isn’t good.

He can have a textbook military intervention in Iran and Venezuela, military and political objectives met, ZERO US casualties and no equipment losses (unthinkable) and the MSM will find SOMETHING to complain about.

The MSM is showing how bias and petty they are.

Our MSM (85% of them) are real simple to understand: Democrats good, Republicans bad. And every story is bent/spun to send that message.

David Goldman is a career gadabout, depending on the winds. He was the pseudonymous columnist “Spengler” around the turn of the century; at one time a radical leftist; then headed up investment funds; obviously has had serious connections. Predicted Trump would win in 2016 although he hated Trump, and predicted Putin would never invade Ukraine—about three days before Putin invaded Ukraine. Not an economist, and it shows. One of those “public intellectuals’ the left is so fond of. Doesn’t know much more than anybody else.

I remember just a few yrs ago they were telling us that they didn’t understand why Americans were so unhappy and blaming Biden for higher prices. They said the economy was getting better because the stock market was exploding and we were just too dumb and impatient to realize how great everything was! Doesn’t surprise me that they’re the ones complaining now when the economy is flourishing for everyone under Trump.
