" . .In 1948, the Idaho Department of Fish and Game conducted a unique wildlife relocation project known as Operation Beaver Drop (also called "Operation High-Dive"). The goal was to humanely relocate 76 beavers from overpopulated areas near McCall and Payette Lake in northern Idaho to the remote Chamberlain Basin in central Idaho, where their dam-building could benefit the ecosystem. Traditional relocation methods—using trucks and mules—were stressful for the animals and resulted in high mortality. To solve this, Elmo W. Heter, a conservation officer, devised a plan to parachute beavers from airplanes using specially designed wooden boxes with parachutes made from surplus WWII equipment. The boxes were hinged and sprung open on impact, safely releasing the beavers. A test beaver named Geronimo was used to refine the method, reportedly becoming so accustomed to the drops that he would voluntarily crawl back into the box. . ."

Warning: Significant Profanity 12:48

They should have gotten their paratrooper wings and an Airborne tab on their shoulder.
Thank you.

FReeper Lazmataz is wondering why he wasn’t invited.
I was expecting a filing for divorce article.
It is Boxing Day.
This post was a coin toss between beaver relocation by WWII Army vetrans in Idaho, or Pablo Escobar’s Hippo collection out of control, which is about to destroy the country of Colombia’s ecosystem.
Perhaps it will sink PETA.
That would involve cross-species fertilization.
We hope most fervently it would not appeal to him.
We have a local creek named Beaver Creek.
People kept stealing the signs, so the road dept stopped putting them up........

Then you were undoubtedly disappointed.
The lead beaver, known as “Geronimo”, apparently had a harem.
Late brother was a Marine Chopper pilot. He lived in a house in So Cal with 3 other single pilots. They made their own beer and called Beaver Steam; labeled “made from the finest steaming beavers.
That would involve cross-species fertilization.
We hope most fervently it would not appeal to him.
Got my wings 49 years ago, still remember the jody.
I had such high hopes for that headline.
