Leftists worship failure within our institutions. It only serves to grow their budgets, size, scope, and intrusion.

Screw up, and, as a diversity hire in a democrat city and town, get extra vacation days on leave!

Screw up (or just be publicly inconvenient as a conservative in a democrat town and state), and get thrown in jail.

If it’s paid leave, in my neck of the woods we call that vacation.

Should have listened to the janitor!!

“Brown University janitor says he warned security about suspicious visitor ahead of shooting”

And why do colleges and unis get to hire their own Keystone Cops and call them a PD instead of security...?

I’ve often wondered that myself. Why not have real cops that know how to handle situations instead of sitting in their cars on campus watching the pretty little coeds..................

Take your pick.
(Hint: Don’t pick choice C.)

A. After an “thorough investigation”, Brown U will quietly reinstate the chief.

B. The chief will resign, and get a comparable job somewhere else.

C. The chief will be fired in disgrace, and never work in law enforcement again.

“Brown University janitor says he warned security about suspicious visitor ahead of shooting”

University security amounts to one retired cop and a handful of wannabe cops all doing nothing all of the time.

I remember some school shootings in this country where the cops were afraid to go into the building until after the shootings stopped. I recall there was some heat about it , but I don’t recall any disciplinary action.

D. The Chief will be sued into poverty along with the University by the survivors and the parents of the murdered victims ..........

It depends on the college. Some colleges just have glorified security guards. If there’s serious trouble, the local police are called.

Other colleges have certified police officers (“campus police”). These officers go through the police academy just like municipal police officers do. Most of them are pretty good.

The problem most campus police have is that their bosses are usually weak and woke.

Not unlike police chiefs in Blue cities.

While I thought the entire Providence team looked like clowns, I wouldn’t go as far as suggesting the Chief ignored information about a sketchy person roaming around Brown.

Think about it…if the homeless guy—now presented as a janitor—really reported this strange person who would he have reported it to? He would not have called the Chief. He would have called dispatch or told a campus cop. And it is likely that information transfer would have stopped there.

In a modern system, they would have grabbed some screen shots from the video cameras and made note of them for the following shifts, and secured the building a little tighter for a few days. In short, the supervisors would have targeted the stranger. Again, the Chief would never know about this.

While it is clear that no one logged these calls or took any steps to follow up, I think it is also evident that the Chief would never have been informed about this.

The bigger issues that ARE the Chief’s fault are the lack of a modern video system or a followed procedure for “stalking” strangers on the campus. Or course, there is the issue of a homeless guy living in a classroom building in the first place. That too falls in the lap of poor security.

I know I am being pedantic, but it’s important to keep things in perspective. The screw ups by this guy happened long before the killer dreamed of going back to Providence and shooting people.

Next on the list should be the President. The Chief should be leaking his budget requests for security upgrades to the media. His defense will be that he could only work with the tools he had (bad excuse, but all we will hear are excuses.) It will be interested to hear if there WERE budget requests? If not, thats another reason to get rid of the Chief AND the President.

If you look at the crime stats for the campus, in 2023 there was a HUGE increase in on campus rapes and assaults. Recent reports were not yet available…but I wouldn’t send my kid there.

“B. The chief will resign, and get a comparable job somewhere else.”

That is how he got to Brown.

Where is that presented?

Should have listened to the janitor!!......

It's my opinion that the garbage men and sanitation workers should run city governments. They are the only segments of the municipality workforce that know what happens if you play around and don't get the job done. They see all.
