Here’s what we know so far:
Rob Reiner’s son Nick has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents. Nick, 32, cycled in and out of rehab centers, blaming his drug use on the fame surrounding his father and his grandfather, the comedian Carl Reiner.
Nick got into a fight with his parents during a holiday party hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien on Saturday night. Family friends told The Times that Nick had been living in a guesthouse on his parents’ property and that his mother had become increasingly concerned about his mental health in recent weeks.
The medical examiner is determining the time of death for Rob and Michele Reiner, and investigators are pursuing Nick Reiner’s whereabouts in the hours after the confrontation at the O’Brien party.
Nick Reiner has retained high-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson as murder charges are expected to be filed later today.

Nick Reiner has retained high-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson as murder charges are expected to be filed later today. He was all messed up on drugs, surely he made multitude of mistakes that will nail him. He's coming down from that high now which is why they will wait a few days to medically clear him.

He's not fit enough to appear in court, yet he was deemed fit enough to be out and about free to be a clear and present danger to civilized society, including his own parents.
Make it make sense.

I bet he’s acting out to set up an insanity defense. His lawyer is top notch and knows that’s the only card he’s got.
To: Red Badger
I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets off on a “temporary insanity” defense. At most, he might get 10 or 15 years with all the mitigating “mental health” factors.
To: kiryandil
He’s still grieving over the loss of his parents.
It would be ironic if they left him a trust fund that will end up paying for commissary every month.

Lady friend worked in our State Hospital in the ward where they kept guys until they were able to appear in Court
Several were guys that had killed family members
They kept them pumped full of Thorazine and other anti-psychotics
Mostly pretty sedate unless they waved their weiner at her, then the big guys in white jackets would give them a time out strapped in The Chair

And so it begins. He was well enough to walk around in this world without restrictions, but now he’s not well enough to appear in court.

Meathead didn’t have security at his mansion?
A bodyguard could have nipped it in the bud…

He hasn’t got a pot to piss in, I wonder how his attorney figures on getting paid the 7 figures he is demanding for this.
Movie rights and a tell-all book deal maybe?
