In the wake of news stories about the massive frauds that have been perpetrated in Minnesota–stories that we have been writing about here, for years–President Trump is moving to revoke temporary protected alien status for Somalis in Minnesota:
[President Trump's X post]
Unfortunately, this action (assuming Trump follows through) will have no practical impact, since there are only a few hundred Somalis on TPS in Minnesota, and fewer than 1,000 across the country. The Somali situation in Minnesota reflects different problems in our immigration laws–specifically, the broad “refugee” entitlement and chain immigration of alleged relatives.
The Star Tribune weighed in to oppose the President. I only want to note one point. The Strib resurrects the “without evidence” trope:
Trump’s post Friday evening alleged without evidence the misappropriation of “BILLIONS” of dollars and blamed Gov. Tim Walz.
Actually, there is plenty of evidence. Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson, who has prosecuted Feeding Our Future and other fraud cases, has publicly stated that “billions of dollars” have been stolen from taxpayers in Minnesota, and nearly all of the perpetrators are Somalis. The Star Tribune apparently is the last “news” outlet that remains unaware of the scale of the criminality that Governor Tim Walz has intentionally allowed to flourish.

Even if only one thousand Somali foreign invaders are deported, it is progress.
A defiant Somali Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-5), responding to a random X account, fired back at President Trump’s move to terminate TPS for Somalis. “I am a citizen and so are (the) majority of Somalis in America. Good luck celebrating a policy change that really doesn’t have much impact on the Somalis you love to hate,” she fired back. “We are here to stay.”
The Minneapolis Somali community has been involved in several significant fraud schemes, most notably the multi-million dollar “Feeding Our Future” federal child nutrition program fraud, and other unrelated cases involving Medicaid fraud and immigration fraud.
Somali Feeding Our Future Fraud Scheme
This is the largest fraud scheme in Minnesota history, centered on the Somali nonprofit “Feeding Our Future” and related Somali entities. Participants exploited a federally funded program, intended to provide free meals to children during the COVID-19 pandemic, by Somalis submitting fraudulent claims for millions of meals that were never served.
Key aspects of the scheme:
More than $250 million was fraudulently obtained and laundered. Somali individuals and companies created shell companies and fake meal sites, submitted false meal count sheets and attendance rosters, and offered kickbacks to Somali families to use their children’s information for enrollment.
Somali money Laundering: Stolen funds were used to purchase luxury vehicles, commercial and residential real estate for Somalis in Minnesota and Somalis abroad (Kenya, Turkey, Ohio, Kentucky), and to fund Somali international travel.
Over 70 individuals have been charged, with many pleading guilty or being convicted at trial. The case also involved an alleged attempt to bribe a juror.
Other Noteworthy Somali Frauds
Medicaid/Autism Services Fraud: Several Somali individuals, including clinic owners and employees, have been charged in separate large-scale Medicaid fraud cases. Schemes involved Somalis billing for services not provided (such as “standing around and drinking tea”), using unqualified staff, and paying kickbacks to clients to maintain enrollment.
One case involved Somali claims related to an autism program where nearly $14 million in fraudulent Somali claims were submitted.
Housing Stabilization Services Fraud: Somali defendants have been charged with exploiting the state’s Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) program, a Medicaid benefit, by creating fraudulent Somali claims for services that were not rendered.
Immigration Fraud: Federal authorities have conducted operations targeting Somali immigration fraud, uncovering instances of Somali marriage fraud, the use of fake Somali death certificates, and forged documents within the Somali community.
Voter Fraud: A former Somali campaign volunteer for a state senator was convicted of lying to a federal grand jury regarding his involvement in illegally delivering Somali absentee ballots without the voters’ consent during a primary election.
Federal authorities emphasize their commitment to pursuing those who exploit government programs for personal profit.
Symbolism, maybe. But it has put the situation in the spotlight. And that’s a good thing.
I wonder where the media gets their information such as the number of aliens currently granted TPS. I believe they’ll always attempt to downplay any impact of decisions handed down during the Trump administration. TPS should be temporary although there are groups of aliens that have had it for decades and it’s not likely it’ll be revoked for them. As with any other program offered to aliens subject to some type of issue that bars them from returning to their homeland in relative safety there’s always going to be a good amount of fraud involved. Removing as many Somalis as possible is a good thing.
Only a few messed it up for the rest of ‘em. That’s a shame.
It depends if the Somalis allowed in on TPS have applied for and received citizenship. If they aren’t citizens, they can be deported back to Somalia.

In fiscal year 2023, the United States committed about $1.18 billion in aid to Somalia. For fiscal year 2024, an additional $745.3 million has been reported, and $136.9 million is planned for fiscal year 2025.

The amount of funds ripped off by the Minnesota Somalis should be deducted from this aid to Somolia.
Citizenship can be revoked for a criminal conviction. There were hundred (thousands?) of Somalis who lent their children’s names to fraudulent feeding programs that gave the parents kickbacks.
We should be charging Somalia for taking in their trash, not giving them money. Another gang of human garbage imported by previous traitor presidents.
Amen.
Bring them in one by one. Check DNA against family members. See if they speak English. See if they’re paying taxes. Are they receiving public benefits?
Likely you can find one reason from above to deny them citizenship & return them home. If they haven’t assimilated, if they’re on benefits, they shouldn’t be here.
We’re going to have to force them out.
America is so screwed. I am sick of foreigners ripping us off. These people never did belong here. They have a country of their own. They should all be thrown out of here to rip off their own people.
Even worse is the repulsive arrogance of that somali tramp Ilhan Omar.
Even worse...... the repulsive arrogance of that somali tramp, Ilhan Omar.
She’s reprehensible.
get rid of the 1000. Then deport all the “refugees” who have broken the law or lied on their immigration applications. That will be several thousand more of the P’sOS.
