President Donald Trump on Thursday said his administration is "trying" to get the former U.S. Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan "back" from the Taliban.
In remarks to the press while standing alongside U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the president criticized the handling of the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan under President Joe Biden and said he had "a little breaking news."
"We're trying to get it back," Trump said. "We're trying to get it back because they need things from us."

Even to my zero-military-training mind, Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was utterly asinine. The generals involved in this should be court-martialed for stupidity, assuming the neo-marxists pulling Biden’s strings gave them any authority over it.
Just look at a topographical map. Kabul City and Bagram are in a deep valley. Bagram and its surround area dominate the majority of the wider valley and the land to the north, while Kabul, and its airport, are more tightly ringed on the South end West sides by mountains.
to give up Bagram BEFORE evacuating Kabul meant it was closely surrounded on all sides. It basically ensured chaos.
Well hell, it’s not like WE need a base there either.
That’s kind of how it started in 2001. Lets not play with that turd again. We need Bagram again like we need a hole in the head.

Good point. But I’d assume the Taliban would not just give it away. And I don’t want a single one of my tax dollars to go to that scum.
Plus there’s the mission creep thing. Americans occupy the airfield. And someone from an adjacent neighborhood starts lobbing shells into the place.
The next thing you know, we’re engaging with the neighborhood.
Best if we just stay out of that hell hole.
