It's not as if the Taliban needs Bagram for anything.

Put some JDAMs on the runway & route Disney near the tower, and be done with that place.

The 82nd Airborne Division could fix that in an afternoon.

Even to my zero-military-training mind, Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan was utterly asinine. The generals involved in this should be court-martialed for stupidity, assuming the neo-marxists pulling Biden’s strings gave them any authority over it.

Just look at a topographical map. Kabul City and Bagram are in a deep valley. Bagram and its surround area dominate the majority of the wider valley and the land to the north, while Kabul, and its airport, are more tightly ringed on the South end West sides by mountains.

to give up Bagram BEFORE evacuating Kabul meant it was closely surrounded on all sides. It basically ensured chaos.

Well hell, it’s not like WE need a base there either.

Bagram - the largest airbase in all of central Asia, close to both Iran and China. And cost some American blood to attain it in the first place.

And Obozo II just walked away from it.

And still no heads have rolled for that betrayal.

“We’re trying to get it back because they need things from us.”

Doesn’t sound convincing. Give us a good reason if you want it.

Is Trump going to stick his hand in a lion’s mouth next week?

I heard somewhere that the Chi Coms had taken it over.

He may get it but I wonder how it can be kept? It is so convenient being land locked and surrounded by terrorists and all that. Pookistan are such good friends too.

I always see the image in my mind of the last man to escape from Kabul across the Khyber Pass.

The decent runway and the proximity to Kabul are only a couple of the things that make Bagram valuable to the U.S.

Afghanistan and Iran don’t like each other much. Sounds like Trump is trying to capitalize on this angle. Imagine US and Taliban become “allies”. Unreal.
