The Caribbean has become a “powder keg” as U.S. warships steam off the coast of Venezuela, sparking a tense standoff. While Washington frames the deployment as a counter-narcotics operation, it’s a clear strategic signal to President Maduro, whose own provocations against Guyana and alignment with China and Russia have raised alarms.

Its a show of force to keep Maduro from even thinking about stirring up trouble in next-door Guyana
Thanks to Exxon, Chevron and even China National Offshore Oil Co, Guyana is now sitting on a fortune in future oil revenues, and no doubt the criminal marxists running Venezuela would like to get their hands on it.
Yes and YES...
Can we stop them if they invade?
Isn’t Congress supposed to declare war?
I bet we can take ‘em!
The initial issue is drug boats. Just sink everything in the harbor and anything coming out.
Monroe Doctrine.
Hopefully just a blockade will suffice.
Trump should bomb Venezuela by deporting the 770,000 Venezuelans living in the United States.
Whatever they had pre-Chavez is probably in need of a major overhaul. Tin pots don’t usually think ahead of the game.
And Venezuela crude is really just crap crude.
What? That’s under the old Constitution. In the new living one, the President can declare war for us, also Tel Aviv can....and maybe even a foreign born Federal Judge in Toledo.
I wonder what will come next. Nothing good, I’m afraid.
The proven oil reserves in Venezuela are on the scale of Saudi Arabia. Hence, as a matter of national security and as a matter of human decency, it would be great to depose that illegitimate thug Maduro in favor of an actually responsible pluralistic government.
I think yes he will.
(A ten minute operation would be all that’s necessary)
Why everyone keeps hoping for war?
If Venezuela is a narco state, then its ships carry drugs, then the US can and will intercept any Venezuelan ships or ships coming from Venezuela in international waters, or waters of allies.
What the big deal?
I bet Maduro hasn’t asked Manuel Noriega how it worked out for him.
**Hence, as a matter of national security and as a matter of human decency, it would be great to depose that illegitimate thug Maduro in favor of an actually responsible pluralistic government.**
History says otherwise. Too many banana republics responding to the siren call of socialism. Look at Nicaragua. They reelected the child molester.
Venezuela is deeply coveting its neighbor’s quality and quantity of crude oil. If they take it from very poor Guyana, they would turn it over to the Chinese because Venezuela could not organize a one man parade let alone develop a complex modern offshore oil field. I think Trump could care less about Venezuela at this point other than to return their criminals and keep them to taking the rich oil fields of Guyana.
