‘To Most People These Things Are Nuts’: Democrat Julian Epstein Says His Party Prays ‘At The Altar Of Pagan Idols’
Daily Caller ^ | August 27, 2025 | Mariane Angela

Democrat commentator Julian Epstein said on Fox Business Wednesday that its leaders are driving themselves into political ruin by embracing fringe ideas that alienate voters.

With a sinking approval rating after their 2024 losses, Democrats scrambled to rebrand, as some conceded their message sounds more like a lecture than a campaign pitch. Appearing on “The Evening Edit,” Epstein said the party’s collapse stems from its fixation on cultural and ideological battles pushed by academic elites and activist groups.

“The Democratic Party is in the dumps. Every single indicator, whether it’s fundraising, party registration or ID, whether it is all of the public polling that we have on all of the lead issues from the economy to cultural issues, Democrats are cratering,” Epstein said.

Epstein said Democratic elites have prioritized ideological experiments over kitchen-table concerns, leaving everyday Americans feeling abandoned.

“The reason for that is they continue to pray at the altar of these Pagan idols. Let’s erase gender. Let’s erase borders. Let’s ignore crime and erase the police. Let’s erase our energy dominance. And to most people, Ashley, these things are nuts. But they come from the academic. These ideas come from the academic and the activist left who is not concerned with voters,” Epstein told guest host Ashley Webster.

Epstein warned that activist academics are dragging the party into decline, adding they thrive by casting Americans as “victims of the oppressed” while leaving the Democratic brand “toxic.”

“They’re more concerned with indoctrinating enough people that they are victims, that they are oppressed. And that these activists and academics are liberators of the oppressed. It serves their career interests, but it is devastating for the party. And that is why the party’s brand is toxic,” Epstein said.

Voter registration data says Democrats lost about 2.1 million registered voters between 2020 and 2024 across 30 states and Washington, D.C., while Republicans gained 2.4 million during the same period, according to the New York Times. Several Democrats told The Hill the sharp losses highlight a trend that should serve as a wake-up call for party leaders.

No, they don’t care about voters or Americans. They’re too busy chasing the windmills of the crazy. It’s totally rotten, but there’s plenty of imbeciles who will keep voting for it, so why should they stop the crazy?

The communist party USA has never changed it’s position. yet they now support the democrats because the democrats have moved into the commie camp.
I had a web page link that showed the commies were now supporting the democrats but it has disappeared, scrubbed.

Every single indicator, ... Democrats are cratering,”

I'll only believe it if they take a shellacking in next year's mid-terms. Meantime, I have friends who are opposed to pervert marriage, opposed to males playing in female sports, etc. but I guaran-damn-tee you they will still vote Democrat.

...You have to wonder why.

Hm. first thing that comes to mind is "The issue is never the issue. The issue is always the (commie) revolution."

There's also the fact that the ideas that these worthless "academic intellectuals" promote & cozy up to (Critical Theory, Critical Race Theory, ESG, DEI, & on and on and on) are useless, destructive, murderous, and black with evil.

Their ideas only 'work' in academia, in their 'ideologically constructed utopia'.

In the real world, those ideas create the most amount of suffering imaginable (see: 100 million dead in the 20th century), but, out of pride, hubris, and no small amount of arrogance and hate for their fellow man, they cling to those evil ideas with the fervor of a hungry baby to a nipple.

The average Democrat voter at church has no knowledge of woke politics of the Democrat party. They noodle along each day voting like old grand dad who always voted Democrat.

They pay absolutely no attention to what is happening, still getting their “news” from the 6 o’clock TV box guy/gal.

When you try to talk to them about “woke” stuff pushed by the Democrat party they tune you out and just nod along. All the local Democrats still make campaign ads standing next to an old pickup truck and a hound dog, while holding an old shtogun.

They care nothing about politics, but still blindly vote Democrat.

Up until the last election I would agree with you. But we are in a whole new political landscape, we are not in Kansas any more.

Those old style Democrat voters are dying off at a quickening pace, mostly thanks to their lifestyles and Covid-19 vaxxes.........................

Julian was on Newsmax last night. He’s so mellow compared to 20 years ago. Had nothing positive to say about Democrats. It’s conceivable he could switch, IMO.

Didn’t he have a cousin that went to high school in New York in the mid 70’s?

I seem to remember that kid always bringing notes from his mother when he was off school...

“stay away from the societal issues”

Rarely do voters agree on what we should do. But we do agree on what we should not do, quite often. The result is that negative campaigns win more than positive campaigns.

Because we do not agree on what to do, we form coalitions. The primaries are specifically intended for these intra-party disagreements. To be in the coalition we agree to unite in November.

There are times when I have chosen to be in the coalition and times when I chose to not be in the coalition. Let’s be honest about the situation and our role in it.
