While the theory that Russia could collapse under the strain of the Ukraine war is popular, a direct comparison to the fall of the USSR is flawed. Unlike the Soviet Union’s final years, which saw a rapid turnover of leadership and liberalizing reforms under Gorbachev, Putin’s Russia is a stable, repressive regime. However, the current system faces its own unique pressures: major state-owned companies like Gazprom are hemorrhaging money, and a rising tide of violent crime from returning convicts is creating deep social instability that could lead to a different kind of collapse.

Any other external threats to start a war over?
I fully agree.
Hyperinflation. The latest example is Venezuela. It has so be inflated its currency that it has become trash blowing in the streets.
I try to be optimistic about that!
I hear a lot about the disaster of Venezuela.
But some yrs ago there was an earthquake in Caracas. People streamed out of buildings.
I looked at them closely.
Not a one was emaciated. Then there was coverage from other cities. Nobody emaciated there, either.
I did see a stream of people leaving the country. They didn’t look starving either, and the women were wearing lipstick.
Russia will be around right up to “ the End”…..not so sure about the US.
IMO this is total BS. Compare the US to Russia socially. This country is way more unstable. Yet no one is calling for the social collapse of the US.
As soon as I see “Putin’s” anything, I know it’s a hit job. “Just the facts, ma’am… your bias is showing”.
RE: I did see a stream of people leaving the country
So, why are tens of thousands of Venezuelans here illegally recently ( including their Tren De Aragua ) ?
What changed since that earthquake?
There are zillions of everything here illegally.
Every Mexican here, Maduro didn’t send him.
RE: Maduro didn’t send him.
A humongous number of RECENT illegals here in my state ( New York ) are Venezuelans. It is confirmed by friends of mine who work at the state’s welfare and housing departments. VENEZUELANS ( not Mexicans, which have always been an immigration problem). If they arrive by land, they have to go through Mexico,
Their numbers have INCREASED. And crime attributed to Tren De Aragua has increased as well and is conspicuous.
I still need an answer to my question — why the recent INCREASE from Venezuela compared to the time when the earthquake occurred? What changed?

Is that how Hitler fell? No!
So your reason is not ever been the only way. And you can try to hide it but the Russian economy is almost done for.
LOL good catch.
Didn’t Biden EPA give an NGO led by that Georgie chick more than a billion dollar?
The answer would be like all of them. Seeking a better life. A quick query to AI . . . what % of illegals recently arrived are Venezuelans.
The usual caveats about context and direct quotes but eventually this:
Estimates suggest the total unauthorized immigrant population in the U.S. was about 11 million in 2022.
While Venezuelans made up approximately 2% of the unauthorized population in 2019 (around 189,000), this number has grown substantially since then due to increased arrivals.
Based on over 500,000 Venezuelan encounters since 2021 and accounting for possible multiple encounters by individuals, Venezuelans likely represent a growing but still minority share of the total unauthorized population—potentially in the range of 4–5% of the total as of 2023–2024,
So a proportional double but still the tiniest fraction of the total illegals, which I suppose is the countries closer? Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala?
As for you seeing them in your locale, I recently got a read on this with Uber drivers in Las Vegas. Bottom line is they are going to go where they have friends who can smooth the path. So if you have Venezuelans local, it became a cluster for that reason — people they know to help them.
If there are 10 illegal Venezuelans there and a Mexican is looking for a place to land, it won’t be there.

Hitler was able to wage war with “sanctions” until germany was invaded and conquered.
