While the theory that Russia could collapse under the strain of the Ukraine war is popular, a direct comparison to the fall of the USSR is flawed. Unlike the Soviet Union’s final years, which saw a rapid turnover of leadership and liberalizing reforms under Gorbachev, Putin’s Russia is a stable, repressive regime. However, the current system faces its own unique pressures: major state-owned companies like Gazprom are hemorrhaging money, and a rising tide of violent crime from returning convicts is creating deep social instability that could lead to a different kind of collapse.

Stable, until it’s not.
Just like Czar Nicky in 1917.....but you might not like what comes next.
Remember the ten year war in Afghanistan?
There's a window for everyone.
In 2020, the murder rate in Russia was 4.7 per 100,000 people,
I suspect you are correct.
I was in the Gulf States during that time.
Russians were welcomed for a bit and they were pouring into Bahrain and Dubai.
But within a few months they were being thrown out.
The whores were given the well known one way boat rides into the Gulf while the men were matched off some where.
In my hotel lobby I witnessed several blooded Russians being dragged off in cuffs and leg ties.
