Employers in the United States added 147,000 workers to their payrolls in June, the Department of Labor said Thursday, and the unemployment rate declined to 4.1 percent, defying predictions of labor market sluggishness following the implementation of President Trump’s tariffs.
Economists had been expecting 110,000 jobs and an unemployment rate ticking up to 4.3 percent.
The April jobs report was revised up by 11,000, from a gain of 147,000 to 158,000. May was revised up by 5,000 to 144,000. Combined, the revisions added 16,000 jobs to the April and May reports.
Wage gains continued in June. Average hourly earnings rose by 0.2 percent in the month and are up 3.7 percent from a year ago, well above the rate of inflation. Average hourly earnings of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 0.3 percent.
The private sector added 74,000 and the public sector added 73,000. The federal government’s payroll continued to shrink, falling by 7,000 in June.
Construction added 15,000 jobs while manufacturing contracted by 7,000. The services sector added 68,000, led by a gain of 58,600 in healthcare and social assistance. Leisure and hospitality added 20,000. There were small gains in retail trade, information technology, financial services, and utilities.
The private sector gains were a bit weaker than expected, especially after so-called government-adjacent jobs in education, healthcare, and social services are excluded.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
More bad news for the Democrats and other enemies of America.
Weird. The ADP data showed a decline of 33k yesterday. Frankly, I believe the ADP data more. It’s less manipulated.
wait- what about that horrible ADP report from earlier this week the media was pushing??
Watch the DOW set a new high tomorrow.😄👍
I would kind of agree with you. But in this day and age what accuracy does either report have? There are many more payroll processors than ADP. What is their market share and how do they calculate their numbers? We know for a fact the government's numbers are totally false and have been for a long long time.
Right? Imagine having to live everyday rooting against success and prosperity because of petty hatred of a single man.
you don’t think they would manipulate it on the negative side with DJT in office if they could?
These are merely snapshots. The media on either side will put a shine on whatever number suits their needs. The long story short is eventually the economic growth Trump is cultivating will be obvious and unable to be covered up by a report or two.
Unexpectedly Falls....Higher Than Expected......
Do they ever expect things correctly?.................
the adp report is based on their clients
which represents 25 million employees
total US employees 163 million
Anything can manipulated. A private company is just as questionable.
Whatever these morons “expect,” expect the exact opposite. I have never seen an industry-—outside of polling-—be so consistently wrong and not go out of business as the “experts.”
The nay-sayers are so accustomed to saying “Won’t work! Won’t work!” in regards to whatever Trump proposes or enacts, they just seem unable to help themselves, in spite of the wealth of evidence that President Trump really CAN do all these “miracles” he forecasts. Promises made, and he overdelivers just about every time.
Maybe it is only temporary, maybe it is just a fool’s paradise, but I am going to enjoy it for as long as I am able.
Sure beats the doom-and-gloom narrative.

The market will be closed tomorrow.
The dow closed yesterday at 44,484, just 588 off thr all time high. It is now up 246 and any bump from the jobs report has been added. So not likely to go to 45,074 or higher today.
But I have been wrong on the past.
Being someone who worked for ADP for 35 years I would disagree with ADP’s data being more believable.
Take that! Jorge Busho, you lying traitorous pig!
Women, children, minorities, LGTBQ+, hardest hit.
