Vice president JD Vance's photo with Indian-origin venture capitalist Asha Jadeja Motwani became a flashpoint amid the H-1B row as social media users questioned what was the purpose of the visit at a time when MAGA activists are opposing the US's quota for H-1B programs.

Oh man. I'm not a one-issue voter, but if the above is true, this is deeply, deeply disappointing.
The H1B-racket is among the most pernicious forms of Anti-Americanism in the corporate world.
You can not tell me that we have a 'work ethic' problem that can be solved with importation of third-world visa holders when companies like IBM have laid off employees with 20+ years of tenure...and FORCED them to train their H1B replacement.
I'll probably set my sights on DeSantis for 2028 instead of Vance for now.

What's the problem with meeting with an “Indian-origin venture capitalist”?
Sounds OK to me.
Democrats gave taken billions of dollars from Soros, a guy who worked with the Nazis against his own Jewish people in WW II.
To: Ann Archy
we need to fix those too, no doubt. but importing third-world visa holders who can barely speak English is not the ‘America First’ way to resolve challenges in the workplace.

my beef is that she essentially demanded he keep this H1B racket going for cheap labor...and per her satisfaction from the meeting, it sounds like he’s willing to commit to that

“The H1B-racket is among the most pernicious forms of Anti-Americanism in the corporate world.”
Yeah?
Did you complain about the 20 million illegals made up mostly of gangsters, rapists, murderers, child traffickers etc that Biden imported into America in 4 short years?
To: millenial4freedom
H1B is not primarily for cheap labor.
Some of the best tech people like Google CEO, Microsoft CEO etc were all H1B.
To: SmokingJoe
yes, I sure did. but I’m not going to give corporate America a pass here just because these visa holders are less likely to be rapists.

I'll probably set my sights on DeSantis for 2028 instead of Vance for now. If anyone, it should be Rubio. However, saying something at a gathering is one thing, but actions speak louder than words. So, let's see what plays out here. The big lie is that these H-1B Vissa holders are smarter. They are not in most cases.

I'd take H! B over Venezuelan gangsters or MS13 killers from El Salvador any day any time.

That is like saying that some people in India are fantastic brick layers or dog walkers. The “whiz kid” thing is so 1990’s.

Two completely separate issues. The H-1B visa argument is a lie that hurts American workers who have financial commitments that these H-1B Visa holders do not have, so they come cheaper which is the attraction for them, not their claimed intelligence they have over the American workers.
But, as I said in an earlier post, that talk in a setting such as this is one thing, but actions speak louder than words. So, let's see what plays out. 🙂👍
To: jroehl
No it isn’t.
Try again and do better.
To: millenial4freedom
when companies like IBM have laid off employees with 20+ years of tenure The argument against too much H1B cheap tech labor won’t be won with arguments about “tenure”. An employee’s value today is about what he brings to the table today, not years ago. Obviously experience is helpful. But the word “tenure” has an element of deserving to still be there even if he hasn’t kept up with tech changes. While arguing for H1B reform, which is a valid point, us tech Americans have to also make ourselves the best people in tech.

“Two completely separate issues. “
Nope.
Same issue.
Only thing is H1B’s have visas and the 20 million Biden illegals imports did not. And those 20 million Biden imports were made of vicious criminals who proceeded to murder, rape and seize the apartments of Americans by force.
“The H-1B visa argument is a lie that hurts American workers who have financial commitments that these H-1B Visa holders do not have”
H1B’s don't have financial commitments and families?
You must be kidding!
