That move was widely regarded as a disaster, and the Marx Brothers only did it to pay off Chico’s gambling debts.

At an audition for this movie, all she did was walk across the room for the producers and groucho.
Producers: “Well, Mr. Marx, what do you think? Which of the girls should we use?”
Groucho: “Are you kidding? How can you take anybody except that last girl? The whole room shook when she walked!”
“Never seen her this young before.”
You can see her younger than that in the 1948 movie, Ladies of the chorus, where she has a much, much larger role.
