He won't get the credit for it in much of the media but President Donald Trump might have prevented South Asia from turning into a radioactive wasteland by brokering a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Although most folks in the USA have not being paying much attention to this conflict, the fact that both nations have nukes made it essential that their conflict be prevented from devolving into the Apocalypse. However, the animosities between India and Pakistan are long and strong so here is a sneak preview of what their ceasefire talks will probably sound like at least initially. Oh, and hopefully both sides will soon return to presenting their Attira-Wagah border ceremony where their animosities can be channeled back to the much safer entertainment level.

The ceasefire was broken hours after it was announced. India and Pakistan have both had nuclear weapons since the 70s/80s, and they've had multiple military battles since then too. The nuclear weapons ensure that things don't get out of hand, if anything.

There’s a video of the whole ceremony. It’s quite the show. Both sides have bleachers for folks to watch it. At the end, their flags are lowered at the exact same time and the border gates closed until the next day.
