New York Times Downplays Pilot Error in Deadly D.C. Crash to Push Preferred Narrative [Buries the Lede]
PJ Media ^ | April 27, 2025 | Matt Margolis

Once again, the failing New York Times is running interference and burying the real story to protect their preferred narrative. An article headlined "Missteps, Equipment Problems and a Common but Risky Practice Led to a Fatal Crash," which is about January's devastating crash at Reagan National Airport, is a textbook example of mainstream media malpractice.

An honest headline would have read, "Helicopter Pilot Ignored Multiple Safety Warnings Before Fatal Crash."

The liberal paper of record spent roughly a thousand words dancing around the obvious truth: A helicopter pilot directly caused this tragedy by ignoring multiple explicit warnings. But that wouldn't fit their preferred story about "systemic failures," would it?

Let me spell out what the Times buried deep in their article: The Black Hawk pilot received clear, explicit warnings about altitude from her co-pilot. The co-pilot explicitly instructed her to turn away from the passenger jet. And what did she do? She ignored those warnings and flew straight into the path of an American Airlines flight carrying 64 innocent people.

"The Black Hawk was 15 seconds away from crossing paths with the jet. Warrant Officer Eaves then turned his attention to Captain Lobach.

He told her he believed that air traffic control wanted them to turn left, toward the east river bank.

Turning left would have opened up more space between the helicopter and Flight 5342, which was heading for Runway 33 at an altitude of roughly 300 feet.

She did not turn left."

ATC, too.

ATC doesn't fly, it was VFR crews' responsibility to ensure separation. Being well above the ceiling doesn't help.

It’s possible he did at the last second only to be fought by the DEI honey.

Possible but it is man vs woman. Last 20 secs of vid doesn't show any movement.

“My question still goes unanswered: what is the military doing flying training exercises in the busiest air corridor in North America?”

And doing it with some of their navigation equipment turned off.

That was my question early on. This woman supposedly had only 45 hours of stick time

She had somewhere between 450 and 500 hours total stick time. The question is did she stay current while working at the WH, which appears to be a no..

“The only reason people tune into mainstream TV/radio anymore is for sports and local news. No one subscribes to a newspaper anymore.”

We subscribe. Only for obits, local news and such. The national news is all AP propaganda. And I suspect that’s why this little rag went from a 1/2” thick large paper daily to a few pages a with pages a fraction of the size it used to be. I’d say the paper is about 5% of what it was 30 years ago.

Whenever I do look at this paper’s AP articles, my blood boils at how obviously biased their stories are. Often outright lies.

I used to get the Sunday edition of the Manchester Union Leader newspaper. At one point just the coupons paid for the subscription. I dropped it about ten years ago.

I dropped cable TV two years ago.

IF Starlink continues to come down in price I will drop my Xfinity internet cable too.

Verizon cell phone is also on the chopping block.
