President Donald Trump said Sunday that his tariff policy will substantially reduce, even completely eliminate, income taxes for some American workers.

“When Tariffs cut in, many people’s Income Taxes will be substantially reduced, maybe even completely eliminated,” Trump wrote in a 6:06 a.m. post on Truth Social. “Focus will be on people making less than $200,000 a year.”

Trump continued, “Also, massive numbers of jobs are already being created, with new plants and factories currently being built or planned. It will be a BONANZA FOR AMERICA!!! THE EXTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE IS HAPPENING!!!

There will be a lot of exited Americans when this happens. It will be crucial to winning the midterms.

Replace the Income Tax with a consumption tax (tariffs function like a consumption tax), and the economy will boom, while freedom also expands for everyone.

We also need to eliminate the 80% of government that is counterproductive.

I highly doubt this will happen in 2026. Even if he wanted to, congress would have to pass it in this current budget being written right now for 2026. Midterms will not have any affect on this. But 2028 could.

Agree 100%. Employers are agents for the IRS. They have to purchase and maintain software, staff etc. to collect and pay Uncle Sam. Those dollars could be invested elsewhere. At a minimum, get employers out of the middle and make workers write a check at the end of the year and you will see change occur.

In 2022 there was $2.6 trillion in personal income taxes paid.

Our imports in 2023 were $3.8 trillion.

The higher the tariff, the fewer imports. And even that is contrary to the national goal to onshore manufacturing...which will make that pie even smaller.

If Trump somehow makes it so that Americans making less than 200,000 per year would NO longer have to pay any income tax(Not sure if he needs congressional/senate approval for that) he will go down as the greatest President EVER and he will win in a landslide..Id like to see some commie somewhere making 100,000 saying “Oh dont do that I like paying taxes” LOL

For Trump, McKinley is his great hero. And I agree with him. You don't appreciate America's great and historic economic power in 1900. McKinley economics merged with modern technology would be an awesome combination.

Does the income tax work? It's only been used in the last 100 years of 5,000 years of civilization. And frankly, it feels like a slow-boiling form of Soviet communism.

Look at the history of taxes in Connecticut: very low taxes for the first 350 years, and then absurd sky-high tax rates in the past 40 years.

The system doesn't work. It means transferring wealth from producers to non-producers, which makes everyone worse.

You can call it anecdotal, but I have been trying to find a 240V timer switch and found one made by a company called Tork. The web images all show “Made in USA” displayed on the mechanism. I found one, locally, for the same price that said, “Made in Mexico” on the mechanism. I needed another and bought it from an even closer distance for the same price. The mechanism says nothing about where it was made. The box said China. Some screws in it looked like they were out of the movie, “Planet of the Apes”.

This is what America’s tariff scheme has done for us. Everyone else tariffs America which has been tariffing no one. Who would build anything in this country? If you make it in Mexico or China, you pay nothing to sell there. You can still sell in America and pay nothing.

This is what I think Trump is saying. Reverse this and you can build in America again. Building means jobs and jobs means taxes - even at a lower rate, the government gets more money.

The stupid Democrats don’t give a damn. Nancy Pelosi sees the Grim Reaper coming and her only concern is to squeeze every egg out of the Golden Goose while she’s still shaking.
