Once upon a time, it was fairly common for highly educated men in the United States to marry less-educated women. But beginning in the mid-20th century, as more women started to attend college, marriages seemed to move in a more egalitarian direction, at least in one respect: A greater number of men and women started partnering up with their educational equals. That trend, however, appears to have stalled and even reversed in recent years. Gaps in educational experience among heterosexual couples are growing again. And this time? It’s women who are “marrying down.”

Being higher educated means a lot less today. The higher the degree the more indoctrinated.
Yawn. Those in extended higher ed tend to meet each other at peak meeting ages. However, the numbers there now skew decidedly female, so especially if the women come from the working/middle-class they are now likely to find their best mate there.

A working middle class husband to a Phd woman means there is someone to actually pay the bills and get those college loans paid off.

Depends on the PhD, but there’s certainly something natural about the breadwinner husband.
It’s also because they don’t have much choice. Well offer half of all college graduates are women.
I won’t welcome her, but I won’t give her any sass either.
Men stopped marrying their secretaries because of all the regulations ... and because the secretaries decided they wanted to be girl bosses.
I have never heard of any guy I know once mention the girl’s education is a major reason they married them.
Also college is getting to be more and more a female thing. When I went to college, I believe it was more than 60% male. Now it is far more women.
Also, a college education doesn’t really mean you are “educated” nowadays. Now, it is more than likely a useless degree or indoctrination.
I am college educated with lots of credentials.
My husband graduated from a trade school.
I would clean the clock of any foolish female who claims I married down.
He’s a great provider, protector, father, and lover. These over-educated ninnies could only hope to marry a man as amazing as him.
