Gavin Newsom drops bombshell Elon Musk claim on podcast with Trump ally Steve Bannon
Daily Mail ^ | March 12, 2025 | Stephen Lepore

Gavin Newsom and Steve Bannon found common ground over the idea that California is responsible for Elon Musk's rise to power.

The pair traded blows in a 56-minute chat for Newsom's new podcast, one that has drawn outrage from the governor's party for platforming the controversial Donald Trump ally.

However, at times, the polar opposites were largely collegial and even laughed at one another's jokes.

Newsom at one point tried to hit home Bannon's apparent distaste for 'First Buddy' Musk, who has donated hundreds of millions to Trump and since become head of the budget-slashing Department of Government Efficiency.

When he tried to nail Bannon on any friction between the two and wondering what Musk's 'endgame' was, the former White House advisor turned it back at Newsom.

Bannon responded: 'Well, you know him, you guys created him!'

Instead of firing back, Newsom agreed with Bannon's point, citing everything California had done for the Tesla and SpaceX CEO.

'In many respects, California did. Our regulatory process and our subsidies to create this market, you're 100% right,' Newsom said.

Why is Gavin getting so much face time with conservatives this week?

He read the tea leaves and understands that the podcasts are the future.

He’s getting familiar with his enemies and their thoughts, and trying to boost his popularity for a run at the Presidency.

Musk started a rocket company that launches rockets for NASA, otherwise NASA to this day would still be stuck and totally dependent on Putin and Russia to launch U.S. astronauts and high-tech equipment into space. Also founded Tesla and xAI, among other companies. And he bought X, otherwise far-left Democrat Jack Dorsey would still be running Twitter as yet another ultra-liberal MSM social media outlet. Now he's running DOGE in the White House, to help the U.S. government get rid of its extensive fraud, waste, abuse, and corruption.

Bannon's response: I can't stand the guy.

Whatever, Bannon. So he somehow rubs you the wrong way -- as if anyone cares. Keep yukking it up with Gavin Newsom on his show ...

This is what President Trump has actually said about Bannon: In response to what Bannon told author Michael Wolfe about the Trump Administration, President Trump responded that Bannon "lost his mind." President Trump also downplayed Bannon's role in his first administration, saying Bannon had "very little to do with our historic victory" and that Bannon "spent his time at the White House leaking false information to the media." President Trump also blamed Bannon for the loss of a Senate seat in Alabama, saying Bannon is "only in it for himself."

President Trump's words, not mine.

Steve Bannon is the jilted girlfriend.

Nothing unusual in politics.

I’m perfectly fine with Bannon not being in lock-step with the admin on every issue. That’s what makes life interesting.

Newsome is obviously running in 2028 and he’s the only ddem smart enough to not whine about how unfair it is to not have a left wing Rogan and instead just go right into the podcasts where and let the chips fall where they will. One difference between them is that Trump has held the same positions since the 80s, documented, and Newsome is a guy who is totally fake, which makes it kinda hard to sit for an hour and not get tripped up in your own flip flops and past or present lies.

“He has been bashing Musk for years.”

True, but I’m talking about right now, not the past.
I listen to Bannon every day, so I’m well aware of what he thinks of Musk.
As you say, there’s some concern over Musk’s AI “post humanism” vision - and investment in China - but long gone are the days Bannon used to bring Beaty on there and bash Musk - Musk has more than proved he’s a patriot and Bannon has admitted he was wrong.

I absolutely agree. I listen to his show as much as possible. His fundamental political position that the Republicans have been the controlled opposition to the Democrats is spot on He doesn’t want to be the Washington Generals to the Democratic Harlem Globetrotters. And I think that’s great. No one else did shows like he did after 2020. He never forgot the J6 prisoners. And he himself went to federal prison on a misdemeanor. Americans should never forget what the Biden democrats did and still are doing to this country. Action Action Action as Steve would say.

Newsom is trying to broaden his appeal. Its smart really.

No small segment of the electorate voted Obama - Obama - Trump - Biden - Trump.

Those are the voters Newsom is after.

For those who responded to my question about why Gavin is getting so much face time, I totally understand his motivation. He’s a chameleon, a politician, a narcissist, and a microphone whore. I guess I am more wondering why he is being given such a broad platform by conservatives. He has nothing to lose and everything to gain from the opportunities being given to him. Perfect chance for him to fool the masses into thinking he’s a centrist.

I don’t mind Bannon being contrarian and think he should endear himself MORE not less with the Left if anything.

What I mind is Gavin Newsom positioning himself for the presidency when what he’s done to San Francisco and then the whole of California — and what California has burdened the US as a whole with — has been nothing short of absolutely criminal. Not just failure, but criminal. The amount of money we have in our state yet everything from infrastructure to basic social order is crumbling and outright lawless…

The generational implications of all the radical gender stuff and spiritual havoc he’s wreaked on countless children, families — literally signing laws that parents are not entitled to have permission to know their kids’ plan to transition…

He’s turned the state into an abortion “sanctuary”…just very, very dark and evil stuff. So him presenting himself as anything less…it’s disturbing. So deceptive.

“I wish Natalie would ‘cover up’ more... “

You mean her clothing style? She definitely dresses like a trollop. A smart trollop, though. The RAV egos of Natalie, Posobiec, and Bannon are quite remarkable.
