my opinion, the great artistic acts for freedom of speech in American artistic history include:
Mark Twain opposing racist bigotry through The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn.
Walt Whitman’s life long Hymn to America a.k.a Leaves Of Grass.
Dylan Rejecting Woke Censorship With Freedom of Emotional Speech in Maggie’s Farm And lines like “How Does It Feel?” and “Once upon a time you dressed so fine/Threw the bums a dime in your prime, didn’t you?/People call say ‘beware doll, you’re bound to fall’/ You thought they were all kidding you” to deaf snobs and opened eared fans at Newport. Nobel Prize winning words.
The Sheer Devotional Greatness Of A Complete Unknown’s Recreation Of The Dylan at Newport In 1965 Story
And What Respect Does Hollywood To This Film’s 8 Thoroughly Deserved Nominations?
None.
Zero.
Not one win.
Show your colours, Hollywood elite.
We already knew.
“And something is happening and you don’t know what it, do you”, Hollywood?

I liked the movie, “A Complete Unknown” but if course I was in high school and college in the late 60’s and Dylan’s songs meant a lot to me.
If you didn’t live back then, his songs may not mean that much to you. It was a tempestuous time.
Tells me I made the right decision to ignore all this crap decades ago.
What is ironic - maybe that is the wrong word - but those on the left that grew up listening to Dylan and supporting the Civil Rights movement, are now in positions of power and embracing DEI, Antifa, BLM, and - most dangerously - the evil and corrupt transgender movement.
Don’t watch the Oscars?
The “Oscars” is about as indicative of the public’s feelings as the “Nobels”.
If it wins an Oscar it is liberal garbage.
It tells us this world would be better off without the entertainment industry.
I lost interest in the Oscars when Bob Hope was no longer the M C.
Indeed. “Am I a Racist,” Matt Walsh’s documentary, grossed about $12M, and didnt make even the short list for nomination, let alone nomination. The winner, some pro-Palestinian thing, grossed $400K total. So the public’s opinion on what is a worthy work doesn’t figure into the calculus at all
I’ll watch next year if they have Ricky Gervais hosts.
The “Adult Film Awards” scenes in the movie “Boogie Nights” are THE perfect commentary on the Oscar awards ... absolutely perfect ...
There is literally a list of checkboxs if a studio wants a film to be nominated for any awards. All based on race and DEI stupidity.
A film based on say action, drama, romance, comedy but does not have the require racist boxes then that film is not considered.
Amazon ruined Lord of the Rings and now they have the Bond film license.
You know they will check off all the hollywood boxes and ruin that franchise.
[Tells me I made the right decision to ignore all this crap decades ago.]
I think the last time I watched the Oscars was the year David Niven was MCing and he got streaked.
Well observed.
Thanks Jim.
