Is this the same word used as Pogey Bait? The stash of food one takes with on an Army deployment. Maybe it’s spelled Pogue...who knows. But ‘pogey’ began during the Korean War and is slang for a females private part.

Marines use to call(don’t know that they do now) candy\sweets Pogey Bait.
Pogey supposedly loosely defined as prostitute in Chinese.
Pogue and Pogey have been used interchangeably.

Still no such thing as an Ex-Marine...except in rare instances for guys like Representative Murtha.

Yes, they have the same derivation.

In the Marines, ‘Pogey Bait’ means candy or sweets.

Pogue means kiss in Gaelix.

Why are they calling him a kiss?

The little I’ve read from him, ‘Snide’ seems like a good description. Sort of a younger, taller version of Chuck Schumer.

Maybe Mr. Moulton wants to create a media presence,
a higher public profile, in case he chooses to pursue higher office. After the Great Fall of Kamala, I have expected to see a new bench of possible players, slowly making themselves known.

Moulton has consistently shown himself to be a Bobby Garwood brand of Marine and a coward. He stood up for getting the Frankensteins out women’s sports, but must have been taken to the woodshed because he now engages only in party acceptable ‘right speak.’
His disgusting remarks about President Trump and Vice President Vance are a violation of “... And to keep our honor clean”
I never saw combat as a Marine but I did as a NYPD street cop and I can tell you this puke wouldn’t last a tour in a radio car in Brooklyn North.
Am I angry? You bet your ass.
Semper Fi to all true Marines and GFY to this quisling Moulton.

Actually "Pogue" doesn't mean a non-grunt: it's humorous term that fellow Marines use to imply that a Marine is a rear-area type with a safe job.

In the case of Rep. Seth Moulton, he means it in a derogatory way - he has abandoned that loyalty to each other we're supposed to have that takes precedence over those who didn't serve.

Combat isn't the sole province of the grunts: it is anybody in theater who is exposed to death and maiming.

Jack Murtha [Demoscum - Pennsylvania] was an EX-Marine.

Looks like James “Snakehead” Carville is also bucking for the EX-Marine label.

There’s ribbing and then there’s derogatory use of these types of nicknames.

I’ve worked with a lot of snipes, bilge rats, targets, bubbleheads, airdales, brown shoes, bus drivers, grunts, mules, whoops, zoomies, etc but It’s always used in a ‘poke, poke, nudge, nudge, know what I mean” kind of way.

I’d never run down ANYONE’S service independent of their role. about 15 years back, I had an older Viet vet presenting to an elementary class with me one day and the way he talked he presented himself as not as worthy just because he served in Europe during that timeframe while I was in the Gulf in the early 90s.

I chatted with him afterward and told him straight up, look I just drove circles in the water-I’m no better than you; but we both served, did our part, and should be proud of that. He kind of lit up a bit after that. Never saw him again, but hope he felt better about his time.

My favorite ‘put down’ from Basic Training days was being called a ‘Maggot.’

Our First Sergeant was 1SG Barnum. He told us it stood for: ‘Bad, Arrogant, Rotten, Nasty, Ugly & Mean.’

One of the most awesome soldiers/men I’ve ever known. All the men that trained me in 1979 were Vietnam Vets. True professionals and I respected them all. They made me the Maggot I am today, LOL!

"...Moulton, an ex-Marine who served four tours in the Global War on Terror according to his official biography..."

I condemn veterans who adopt and support Leftist policies, especially those that are in direct contradiction to the US Constitution regarding the 1st and 2nd Amendment.

I admit that I struggle with this mindset, which is why I posted this. I do not take this lightly.

I fully recognize this point of view is sometimes unpopular with many conservative veterans, especially those that have seen actual combat themselves. And I understand that. But I feel strongly about this.

Veterans who sign on to the agenda of the Left are repudiating the Constitution. This is not my opinion. This is fact. They are repudiating the SAME Constitution that those veterans who support the Left took an OATH to protect and defend.

I believe those people have broken their oath. It is not that they have different opinions that I disagree with. It is that they support anti-Constitutional policies. It makes them oath breakers.

It is clear that to nearly every Leftist who served in the military, that oath was just words, and that is all it ever was, regardless of whatever they went through. It isn't a difference of opinion that gives me cause to condemn them.

I saw an Israeli recently who said (I have to paraphrase it here):

"If someone disagrees with your or has a different opinion, they are not your enemy. If someone does to you what Hamas did on October 7th, they are."

What we have here is people who support (against their oath) the laying of foundations that inevitably ends up with things like October 7th. We have seen what limiting speech and disarming populations ends up as. That is indisputable. We have seen it again and again.

So, it isn't just a difference of opinion.

If a veteran told me that they disagreed with the 1st or 2nd Amendment and intended to launch an endeavor to amend the Constitution, I would absolutely not view it the same way, and would not see it as a violation of their oath of enlistment because...they would be working within the framework of the Constitution they took an oath to defend. I would want them to fail, but I don't believe it would be inconsistent with their oath to defend the Constitution.

But that is not what the the majority of Leftists who are veterans support. They support changing the law in any way they see fit, by any method.

And I abhor and condemn that.
