Mike Johnson skips DOGE cuts in stopgap bill, locks in $6.8 trillion spending through October—funds all the pork

A lot of folks aren’t catching what Speaker Mike Johnson’s doing—he’s saying no spending cuts from the Department of Government Efficiency are hitting this new stopgap funding bill. He’s set to keep government cash flowing through October, holding it steady at last year’s levels, no trimming anywhere. Johnson’s pushing a “clean” continuing resolution—freezing funds where they landed in fiscal 2024—to dodge a shutdown come March 15, letting talks about next year’s budget stretch out.

Johnson’s pitch is simple—pass a clean bill, no DOGE cuts, just keep the government running at the same pace as fiscal 2024, which clocked $6.752 trillion in total outlays from October 2023 to September 2024. That’s not $6.8 trillion dumped in a few months—it’s the full year’s spending, $1.833 trillion deficit included, and this stopgap locks that rate in place ‘til October. He’s calling for bipartisan nods, telling Democrats to sit down and hash it out to keep things humming past mid-March. This isn’t about slashing anything—it’s holding last year’s $6.752 trillion level, and the pile’s not shrinking.

Every photo I see of Mike Johnson I see on his face and in his eyes a conflicted and confused man. He needs to pray for strength, for what has to be, This is his time to be strong or to be weak.

We can’t cut spending until we hold 101 Senate seats anyway.

The people everyone told me to vote for because "at least they are better than the dems" are fighting like hell to avoid cutting waste and fraud and starting to grumble that they need to raise taxes by not extending Trump's cuts.

So are they better, really?

Correct. It's actually growing. I think Johnson's plan is close to what Trump wants.

Unfortunately, that means increasing the debt another 2 trillion dollars annually.

Well, the GOP duped me again. Trump, if his word means anything, will veto the bill.

Get this lily-livered fool out of the speaker’s chair. So, he’s ok with massive waste and fraud? Make him pay the price..in the dustbin of US political history.

To be fair, most of the DOGE cuts (as I understand them) are outside the legislative process, and involve nonsense that is funded at the discretion of executive branch offices.

How many non-RINO’s are there in D.C. who don’t want to cut the MASSIVLY unconstitutional and overgrown federal gov’t?

Seems like Trump is a non-RINO. Don’t know about Vance. Speaker Mike Johnson is coming across like a RINO.

Besides Trump, do we have any patriotic Friends of America who want to cut gov’t and bring back individual freedom?

Whatever Mikey is doing Trumps approved of it. They’re predicting a first quarter contraction in the economy so Trump is trying to head off a recession. I’m just waiting to see how it all shakes out.
