Are we getting dumber as a society? In this 20 minute or so video, Nate makes some fun and offensive comparisons of our world today vs. 2006 when the movie Idiocracy first appeared on the big screen.

I laughed a little, was offended a little, but mostly just nodded along in agreement looking back at scenes from the movie to where we are today.

Those were my reactions so you have been warned.

Yet as a Canadian he is a a typical smug CANUCK, ignoring his countries short falls while focusing on ours. Besides the fact Canada has many of the same problems, such as I recall reading somewhere Canadians are happily replacing themselves. Something like 1/3 of people in Canada are foreign born.

On his site he sells all sorts of survivalist foods and apparel, including such as "Wysi Biodegradable Toilet Paper Tablets" for "from" $ 28.99 USD. Note that the prices are in US currency.

The "About" tells in part "Canadian Preparedness is a family run Canadian company based out of Saskatoon Saskatchewan that seeks to bring top quality emergency preparedness products to campers, preppers, hikers, survivalists, first responders and wilderness enthusiasts."

A look to the Videos/Oldest in the YouTube channel shows he has been telling of the SHTF things and such titles as "SHTF: Fear and Control in the Apocalypse" (1,582 views since Jun 25, 2014) and "What SHTF/ DOOMSDAY Looks Like... (Depressing)" ( 2,313 views since Aug 7, 2014).

Eleven years later it's still SHTF. And it's still MARKETING, alongside clicks, solicitations of donations for a company profiting from sales, and the like.

There’s no way to sugarcoat it: Americans have been getting dumber.

Across a wide range of national and international tests, grade levels and subject areas, American achievement scores peaked about a decade ago and have been falling ever since.

Will the new NAEP scores — our nation’s report card — coming out on January 29 show a halt to those trends? We shall see. But even if those scores indicate a slight rebound off the COVID-era lows, policymakers should seek to understand what caused the previous decade’s decline.

There’s a lot of blame to go around, from cellphones and social media to federal accountability policies. But before getting into theories and potential solutions, let’s start with the data.

Yes it’s brutal but real how it works: And it’s just not learned behavior, the high level civilization times allow weaker people to spread their genes. Many people in ancient times knew this but didn’t understand the underlying science. The ancient Spartans for example really did expose newborns to the elements , they were unwittingly selecting for toughness genetic combinations. Such behavior today would be frightful, illegal and repugnant but again such moral considerations are irrelevant to genetics. In fact as I post somewhere else that IS happening today but in an opposite manner. Our welfare system is actually selecting for “weaker” people. Years -- decades -- ago, there was a student "spoof" magazine at USC in Los Angeles. Long gone now, I think. It had one front cover cartoon which I wish I'd kept.

Imagine a doomsday sayer, bearded and robed, carrying a huge sign declaring the end of the world. "The End is Near."

In small letters at the bottom of the sign was a footnote: "Please return all books to the Doheny Library."

There are so many skits and jokes about this, that one could chuckle all day long.
