Yet another disturbing incident involving one of America’s federally elected officials happened today after Mike Johnson was elected House Speaker on Friday.
81-year-old Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) had just finished voting to help elect Johnson when disaster struck. Fox News revealed that she fell on the grand staircases on the GOP side of the Capitol.
PBS Newshour Correspondent Lisa Desjardins revealed Capitol Police soon swarmed the scene to attend to the elderly member of Congress.

My point is having representatives who are that old endangers the slim majority the GOP has.
She’s already past average life expectancy.
I wonder if the governor has to appoint from the vacated seat’s party?
I don’t know what the procedure is in NC.
To: beef
Vacant House seats are all filled by special election, as per the Constitution.

We can all say whatever we like; but I wouldn’t suggest how the States order their election rules.
Whether I like a State politician or State practice or not, it’s not up to me to decide what’s ‘too old’ or ‘too long’ in office; that’s up to the people the politician answers to.
(Or would you advocate taking away their right to vote for the person they feel serves them best?)

'She’s already past average life expectancy.'
Trump is years past the current average life expectancy for US men; and Foxx has only just hit it for women...

I wouldn’t suggest how the States order their election rules. I never said anything about State election rules.
I said she has been a professional politician for far too long. The problem hardly limited to her, she merely exemplifies it.
it’s not up to me to decide what’s ‘too old’ or ‘too long’ in office
BWAHahahahhahahaha! It absolutely is "up to you" to have, and express, an opinion on the topic. It's (still) a (more or less) free country. You're welcome.

If voters don’t start retiring their aged congressmen and senators, they’re going to have to install Stairmasters in the capitol.

I am 84 and use rails only going up stairs to help my knees. Going down stairs I don’t need help. On cruise ships I avoid crowded elevators and long waits by using the omnipresent stairs near by.

Pass REaL bans on insider trading for ANYONE related to a congress mutt. That will help.

At some point people need to retire. When is that? FYI, President Roosevelt couldn't walk at all.

It’s important to remember that “senate” and “senile” share the same root word.

An 81 year old GOP member is an anomaly. Many GOP members run for the exits when the going gets rough. Democrats have to be carried out of Congress on a gurney.

on a cruise ship, stairs (instead of elevators) are well padded and consist of 2 sections. there is a flat landing zone between the 2 sections. Cruise ship floors are close to next floor, so there are only about 7 steps to navigate on each of the 2 sections. My balance is very good, so I have been able to go downstairs up to 9 floors down, taking my time.

At what point would that be?
If they fall down a couple stairs and can't get back up, that's probably a good sign!
