Judas and Jesus scene
Here is a clip from Season 5 ! What do you think ? Very interesting plausible conversation with Judas. Not from scripture as I can tell but captures the heart of the matter between Judas and Jesus. The acting is superb! And the expressions are so meaningful because we already KNOW what Judas will do, however there is now doubt that Jesus wants Judas to follow HIM and stop trying to give Jesus “advice” on what He should do or not do !

Looking forward to the full release of Season 5.
But while we wait. What do you think about this scene?
Is it plausible that Jesus and Judas would have had such a conversation even though this exact conversation is not recorded in scripture to my knowledge
What say you my FRiends?
The problem with this series in general—and this specific situation in particular—is that it is doing what Protestants have incorrectly accused the Catholic Church of doing... making it up. In doing so, you create theological problems to solve that didn’t exist in the first place.
You’re probably going to catch a bit of flak here. Some FReepers believe that “The Chosen” does not follow Scripture closely enough.
Perhaps that’s a fair criticism. But as I see it, any imperfections are outweighed by the good the series does. It brings more people closer the life of Christ.
To each his own.
Well said. Same here
Prot/Caths first off....

I’m Out.
It seems to me the gospel was once enough. I am very uncomfortable mixing the truth of scripture with fiction. It seems like to me one is adding to the scriptures by doing so. That said, I’m the only one I know that is bothered by it.
I am worried it will create a false view of God and the Scriptures. When one thinks of Christ, if all they have is this, they will think of the actor. I’m not surei can even fully articulate why I’m uncomfortable with that.
I understand what you’re saying. But I don’t think “The Chosen” is mixing Scripture with fiction. As I see it, it’s more like mixing Scripture with reasonable and respectful guesses.
One of my favorite scenes from that series is Jesus talking to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s Well. It’s very moving - and I think Scripturally sound even though it includes dialogue not found in the Bible.
Folks might disagree, and I certainly respect that.

Fiction added into the story of Jesus may eventually get it cancelled..
And boy, will that be a fun day on the religious forum..

You raise a fair point. As I noted in post #9, I think “The Chosen” has done a very good job so far.
But some people get arrogant with success, and then push the boundaries too far. Will that happen with “The Chosen”? Time will tell.
Thanks for sharing this. I’ve enjoyed the series. Right now, I think it does more good than harm. I hope I will think the same ten years from now.
I think any biblical movie or series involves adding material. Those well versed in the bible may, or may not, choose to see the video. Perhaps the greatest benefit is that some people will watch a semi-plausible reenactment, then turn to the Bible.
My pastor said that Jesus was fully human and fully God. This is very different from such figures as Hercules or Samson. It’s harder to understand. I think the series does a good job of showing the human side of Jesus, without forgetting his divinity.
I am baffled. Where does one find this? Heard bits and pieces. Thought it might be a new production but this notes 5 years. Anyone?
Sorry, no thanks!
1) Yet another attempt to monetize religion.
2) Don’t add stories (etc) to zip up the scriptures. My wife was raised in a cult that added all sort of rules and stories not in the bible. After leaving many decades ago, she still has to ask “is that in the bible or is it from my old religion?”
