Yale psychiatrist Dr. Amanda Calhoun went on "The View" to say "if you are going into a situation where you have family members, where you have close friends, who you know have voted in ways that are against you, against your livelihood, it's completely fine to not be around those people and to tell them why."
View co-host Sunny Hostin vociferously agreed, saying "it's a moral issue. If a family member or a friend voted for Hitler it's okay to denounce them. They are the traitors who put their own selfish interests ahead of yours. They don't deserve to be in the same room with you. The only way we can achieve unity in this country is to shun those who disagree with us. Exile them from our presence."
A regular viewer of "The View" went on X and posted "I have cut ties with my MAGA father and sister. I will never, ever speak to them again. I'll spit on their graves. Anyone who still hangs out with 'friends' or family that voted for fascism needs to take a long look in the mirror."
Rick Taylor, an unsuccessful Democrat candidate for the Ohio senate seat currently held by JD Vance, posted "my Aunt called asking about Thanksgiving plans. During the conversation she mentioned she voted for Trump. I told her my home is not open to traitors and I would not go to hers. I have no space in my life for those who could care less about the United States. My Aunt is now upset."
George Takei, the now demented actor who played Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu on the original Star Trek, posted: "Another reason to turn away from those who voted for Trump is because they sentenced the people of Ukraine to be ground beneath Putin's boot. It's unforgivable. Should any of these voters approach your home set off the intruder alert and stun them with your phasers."
Because her husband posted "God Bless America. God bless #45, 47," Huffpost writer Andrea Tate canceled Thanksgiving and Christmas. When her husband later brought her a cup of coffee and said "I'm sorry and I understand." She questioned whether he really understood, ignored the coffee and let it get cold "out of spite." "On Nov. 7, I saw my husband's post was still up. I told my husband 'I saw that you didn't take your post down, and that breaks my heart.'"

The satire just keeps getting harder to pick out.
They are. Mrs rktman re-posted the red wave crashing over quemala and a coworker of our daughter showed her. Coworker unfriended and ghosted by daughter since Winner Tuesday. Oh well. Less expensive Christmas coming up.
It’s common for a therapist to recommend patients avoid triggers. It’s not about right or wrong but about just avoiding triggers.
So I’m supposed to put someone else’s selfish interests ahead of mine when voting?
Yale Shrink Mandy Calhoun on Da Zoo.
It would be best for EVERYBODY to shun Leftists and have nothing to do with them or their obvious mental problems
Love should trump politics!
She would be a disgrace to her profession except she’s a disgrace to her species
An actual therapist would recommend that you face your fears and learn to suck it up buttercup.
That is how you become an adult rather then a crying ninny that everyone shuns.
????
Gunny Sergeant Hartman might take that approach but no, an actual therapist would not do such a thing.
Some individuals are so toxic that setting boundaries and creating space may not be enough, possibly requiring a patient to go no-contact with family members.

If you do not learn to deal with different personality types your world will shrink until you are crouched in a corner of your closet a blubbering mess that someone else will, once again, have to clean up.
"Dealing with" some personality types requires advanced psychological degrees or prisons with guards and wardens.
Power brokers in this country decided to close mental institutions decades ago and the potential patients have been let loose upon the public. The individual with behavioral issues that you see is more likely the victim, not the perpetrator because the perpetrators hide themselves well and more often target their victims out of the public eye.
