It’s common for a therapist to recommend patients avoid triggers. It’s not about right or wrong but about just avoiding triggers.

An actual therapist would recommend that you face your fears and learn to suck it up buttercup.

That is how you become an adult rather then a crying ninny that everyone shuns.

Gunny Sergeant Hartman might take that approach but no, an actual therapist would not do such a thing.

Some individuals are so toxic that setting boundaries and creating space may not be enough, possibly requiring a patient to go no-contact with family members.
