Obama Blames Economy [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 10 November 2024 | John Semmens

Posted on 11/08/2024 11:57:04 PM PST by John Semmens

Former President Barrack Obama blamed "a worldwide economic stagnation that disproportionately afflicted progressive regimes. Green initiatives focusing on public investment in environmentally friendly technologies failed to live up to expectations. Wherever they were tried goods became more scarce and prices rose. While us enlightened and unselfish folks are willing to pay whatever it takes to rescue the climate, the uneducated and greedy folks who aren't willing to pay voted for Trump."

"The great tragedy is that the price controls, higher taxes, and subsidies that Vice-President Kamala Harris would've implemented had she won now won't even be attempted while Trump is in charge," he lamented. "When he leaves office in 2029 the climate may have gone past the point of no return. In this respect, her reassurance that everything will be okay will prove incorrect. The world may not survive Trump."

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre echoed Obama's take, saying "there were global headwinds because of the COVID-19 pandemic. That took a political toll, on many incumbents, if you look at what happened in 2024 globally. People chafed under the restrictions placed on them for their own good. They resented losing their jobs or businesses, being forced to submit to vaccinations they didn't want, and having to do with less so immigrants could escape poverty. The United States wasn't the only place where science lost out to ignorance. Our only consolation is that those who voted for Trump will suffer with the rest of us."

LOL.....”The great tragedy is that the price controls, higher taxes, and subsidies that Kamala Harris would’ve implemented had she won the presidency now won’t even be attempted while Trump is in charge,” Obama lamented.

4 Nov: City Journal: A Looming Political Earthquake
The Inflation Reduction Act’s unprecedented climate spending — much of it uninvestigated — may soon lead to unprecedented scandals.
by Mark P. Mills
If it weren’t for the election season swamping news coverage, odds are more people would be talking about the revelation that, to quote a Bloomberg headline, “The World Bank Somehow Lost Track of at Least $24 Billion.” In fact, that may understate the reality: the World Bank’s “accounting gap” could be as big as $41 billion. The missing funds in question were for “climate finance” projects, “financed by taxpayer dollars from its member countries, the biggest being the US.”...

But the oversight scandal at the World Bank is chump change compared with the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and its massive planned “climate finance” program. The misnamed IRA is, in the words of its advocates, the “largest climate policy in US history.” [emphasis added] The law’s ambitions dwarf those of the World Bank. By various estimates, the IRA will lead to some $3 trillion in direct spending on grants, subsidies, and the like, plus another $3 trillion in related spending induced by mandates and rules. For perspective, that’s far more than the cost of Obamacare, and even more than the $4 trillion the U.S. spent (inflation adjusted) to fight World War II...

Where are all the curious investigative journalists? Fortunately, a few still exist, notably James Varney at RealClearInvestigations, who has recently published a preliminary investigation: “Overnight Success: Biden’s Climate Splurge Gives Billions to Nonprofit Newbies.”...

watch out for more billions to be disbursed before President Trump is inaugurated:

22 Oct: Real Clear Investigations: Overnight Success: Biden’s Climate Splurge Gives Billions to Nonprofit Newbies
Although there isn’t much public information available about the Justice Climate Fund, it appears to have been an overnight success.

After gaining nonprofit status in August 2023, the organization was awarded $940 million by the Biden administration just eight months later in connection with the White House’s $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which aims to provide financial assistance to reduce carbon emissions and reduce pollution.

The Justice Climate Fund is not the only nonprofit newcomer suddenly made rich by the GGRF. Within a month of gaining nonprofit status from the IRS, Power Forward Communities, which reported 2023 revenues of $100, was awarded $2 billion.

The awards were made by the Environmental Protection Agency, which is new to the world of major grantmaking…

The single biggest winner in the awards, which were announced in April, was the Climate United Fund, which is slated to receive $6.97 billion. The fund’s directors include prominent Democrats, such as Phil Angelides, a former California State Treasurer. After this article was published Climate United told RCI that Anthony Foxx, who served as Transportation Secretary in the Obama administration, was “listed as a board member for our [grant] application but did not commit to serving post award.” A press release on the group’s website names Foxx as a member of its “Inaugural Board of Directors.”

The unprecedented nature of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, which was created as part of 2022’s Inflation Reduction Act, is raising concerns about the Biden administration’s efforts to spend tens of billions of dollars in its final months, a gusher of taxpayer money that will flow into a poorly understood, untested, and difficult to audit format. The tremendous sums involved, the novelty of the program, and the EPA’s lack of experience in the field, as well as the unproven track record of some of the newly hatched recipients, have drawn the attention of lawmakers and others uncertain about how the taxpayers’ billions will ultimately be spent and who will keep track of it all...

Daren Bakst, director of the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute’s Center for Energy and Environment and a sharp critic of the Biden administration’s climate change spending splurge, said, “It’s worse than a slush fund – it’s a slush fund to create non-profit slush funds.”...

Gee, that’s too bad, but since the “climate change/ green energy business” is pretty much a scam anyway, I guess it won’t matter that much.

Poor Barack, I would suggest you take a large dose of oxycontin and some fentanyl, insert your ear buds, hit the eleven button and listen to this song on a perpetual loop. Everything will be better in the morning.

Thanks as always, John, for another fine column. You add humorous (but still a little scary) satiric punctuation to an amazingly happy week.
