The headline says it all, and it's one of those questions where "If you have to ask the question, you won't understand the answers." But that doesn't stop The Times! They come up with five possible explanations, and to nobody's surprise, they get it wrong. Let's take a look!
In 2016, Donald J. Trump became the Republican nominee and ultimately won the presidency after calling many Mexican immigrants rapists and falsely claiming that Barack Obama was not born in the United States. They waste no time getting to the wrong conclusions:Eight years later, the polls suggest that he might well return to the White House by faring better among Black and Hispanic voters combined than any Republican presidential nominee since the enactment of the Civil Rights Act in 1964.
How is this possible? It’s a question I get often, and the latest New York Times/Siena College polls of Black and Hispanic voters nationwide represent our best effort at answering it.
To liberals, Mr. Trump’s views on race, crime and immigration are little more than racist dog whistlesAs I've pointed out, when Lefties use the phrase "dog whistle". that's just Leftspeak for "Just because I can't find any evidence to support my views, I'm not about to let that stop me from believing them!" I've also found that it doesn't go over well when you point out to them that these supposed dog whistles that are only heard by racists only seem to get noticed by Leftists.
Of course, Mr. Trump hasn’t just used dog whistles in his campaigns. Sometimes, he’s used a bullhorn.Yes, the vast majority of nonwhite Americans who don't consume local wildlife and don't want kids in their communities dying of Fentanyl overdoses aren't offended. For that matter, they might find it kind of cool when a presidential candidate works the drive through at McDonald's for a few hours.During his time in national politics, he has offended millions of Black and Hispanic voters, including by recently saying that Haitian refugees eat cats and dogs and that undocumented immigrants are “poisoning the blood of our country.”
But a sizable minority of Black and Hispanic voters aren’t necessarily so offended.
It’s obvious, and yet it still doesn't get enough attention. To author Nate Cohn's credit, he did acknowledge the Democrats as the party of the Confederacy, even if he stopped short of acknowledging them as the party of slavery. And now we've reached the tipping point where it's become impossible to ignore the consequences of The New Deal and Great Society. Looks like LBJ's prediction was only off by a few decades. Many people assume that Democrats win Black and Hispanic voters simply because of the party’s commitment to advancing racial equality, but the role of economic self-interest should not be underestimated. Democrats started winning Black and Hispanic voters in the 1930s, not in the 1960s, because Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal helped redefine the Democrats as the party of the working class, not just the party of the former Confederacy.
Just 20 percent of Hispanic voters and 26 percent of Black voters say the current economic conditions are good or excellent. More than half of both groups say they have “often” cut back on groceries over the last year because of the cost.

Because they aren’t the helpless idiots Dems portray them to be.
They want jobs, not communist slogans.
Because people can’t afford to eat?
Black Guy has Tshirt
Trump
or the
Tramp ?
That cartoon at the top is just awesome!
It’s all identity politics to them and they can’t understand when someone doesn’t behave the way their skin color, nationality, or sex says they should.
Cohn missed the argument that Bill Maher often makes: the Dhim has become more and more party with no common sense. They support abolishing the police, allowing men in women’s rest room, allowing the youth to change their gender without parents knowledge, and so on. These are issues that are seen crazy by any reasonable person, regardless of their race/ethnicity.
The Hispanic communities are very family and community oriented. I often hire Hispanic people to do work because they are eager to work small jobs.
Gender insanity doesn’t play with Latino culture. That is a line they won’t cross. Obama destroyed the black culture and it is very sad.
Because they see “immigrants” getting all the attention and money for one thing. Also, both groups like strong men. Machismo, remember that?
This reminds me of 2016 when an actually well meaning journalist from NY decided to make a trip to flyover territory to talk to the people there and try to gain an understanding for WHY TRUMP.
So she had her film crew with her and went into what she called a blue collar bar. As if this was going to get her some good information . . . walking into a bar of guys watching sports on TV with a film crew and lighting and expecting to get normal, every day answers.
But no, it was worse than that. What she did was interview “a professor of political science who teaches here in town at the university of” wherever she was.
This lady actually wanted answers. She was trying to do it right. But she understood so little that she went and got a political science professor — an elite Swamp wannabe — and expected from him she would get the attitudes of local black electricians or plumbers.
Family oriented, hard working, god fearing Catholic or Charismatic (more kids! either way). If you like your SS check you should thank them.
And they are the ones offended by illegal border crossers and criminals. they came to escape their lawless impoverished country to enter servitude to the Dhim machine. Reagan understood that. They are a natural Trump electorate.
And you can mega ditto that for Haitians.
Just as children aged out of ADHD meds. And big Pharma had to pivot to gender mutilation. Women will age out of abortion and the democrats will have nothing.
“NYT: Why Is Trump Gaining With Black and Hispanic Voters?”
because like everyone who’s not wealthy, the doubling of prices for groceries, rent, insurance, heat, electricity, natural gas, gasoline and everything else has been utterly disastrous ...
