Oh look, it's Big Tech being evil again! According to research from NewsBusters, Google is burying conservative news on search results ahead of the 2024 election.
When using the search term "donald trump presidential race 2024," researchers had to scroll through 23 pages of results before they come to a U.S.-based right-leaning news source, a single Fox News video six results down on the 23rd page.
According to one study, only 3.9% of users even visit page two of Google results, which suggests almost zero people bother to go to page 23. When using the search term "kamala harris presidential race 2024," a conservative news source didn't appear until the 11th page.
NewsBusters made the point that an increasing number of Americans get their news from Google search, which makes Google's bias even more damaging:
"This overt leftist bias is especially concerning considering that according to a November 2023 Pew Research survey, a rising number of American adults receive their news from search. The study found that 15 percent of U.S. adults prefer to get their news from search engines, which is up from 13 percent in 2022, and 11 percent in 2021."
Donald Trump has previously called out Google bias, even threatening legal action should he win a second term:
A Google spokesperson dismissed the study.
"Both campaign websites consistently appear at the top of Search for relevant and common search queries. This report looked at a single rare search term on a single day several weeks ago, and even for that search, both candidates' websites ranked in the top results on Google."
This looks like election interference to us.
Tin foil hat time: is the search engine market share data rigged?
https://gs.statcounter.com/search-engine-market-share
Google has an astonishing 88% of the market, followed by Bing at 7% and Yahoo and Duck Duck Go at about 2% each.
Any self-respecting American who values privacy and detests Big Tech has GOT to be eschewing Google.
Is that really only 12% of the market?
I get a lot of search happens at work, and thus the IT department holds sway. But still…88%??!?!
Google lies.
People are essentially too lazy to install another search engine and most IT departments won’t allow them to do so anyway.
AND
A lot of these ‘third party’ search engines are in reality Google with a different façade................
I watched a few minutes of the Today show just now. I lost count of how many times they said the race was tight, deadlocked, would not quit saying it. Pure deception.
“Both campaign websites consistently appear at the top of Search for relevant and common search queries. This report looked at a single rare search term on a single day several weeks ago, and even for that search, both candidates’ websites ranked in the top results on Google.”
gaslight
DuckDuckGo supposedly uses Google to search.
At least, though, by intervening, it prevents Google from developing person-by-person individual search dossiers.
Not just Google. Microsoft’s basic browser wouldn’t take me to Trump’s donation site. I used Result Hunter. They suck.
DDG is way better/balanced than any other engine I’ve used.
Take it or leave it, I read that DDG’s competitors spread that “rumor.”
The developing “AI” revolution is going to break the back of Google.
I never use Google’ search engine for ANYTHING. Screw them. DuckDuckGo and Brave. I’m sure there are other good ones.
Yes indeed. Seven pages full of leftist lies, smears, and attacks on Trump before a single link to a neutral (not known for being conservative) source.
“Who controls the past controls the future: who controls the present controls the past” —- George Orwell in “1984.”
A dystopian future where citizens are manipulated by a single political party.
Orwell was writing when information was being controlled by a minority of people and his novel contains references to Nazi Germany. (Per Thought Company)
I prefer the Brave search engine. DuckDuckGo seems to give the exact same results as Google.
“Not just Google. Microsoft’s basic browser wouldn’t take me to Trump’s donation site. I used Result Hunter. They suck.”
You got my attention with this. I had never heard of Result Hunter. Are you saying MS sucks or Result Hunter sucks?
Using FireFox and found the addon/extension in their repository. But in digging I found they are also affiliated with Google services, which means google is the controlling 3rd party tool they rely on for ad revenue Etc. ANY connection to Google is a connection to Google spyware and scripts.
“We do backfill will Google search ads and some affiliate opportunities as well. The more advertisers sign up for Strong Keyword, the less we’ll need to backfill.”

From the “Allow” notice at the FireFox add on page:
This add-on needs to:

Access your data for resulthunter.com
Access your data for cse.google.com

So it looks like even though you might bet better results it is still based on and using Google and Google 3rd party spyware scripts.
I apologize for the confusion (Monday morning). Microsoft would not take me to Trump’s site. Result Hunter did. Result Hunter advertised a while back on YouTube and I keep a tab for them on my browser. They claim to balance out the liberal garbage and bring conservative searches up the list.
I see, thank you! I like the concept J.T. Smith has there. Just disappointed he is still connected to Google services. This is something we need to eliminate completely if we are to ever be free of the Google control. But he is not the only one. It seems like there is an unwritten rule that a website or app like a search engine just cannot be made without using Google 3rd party services. This is a myth that needs to be erased from the minds of conservative developers. Everything Google CAN be eliminated with a little more time and effort put into these developments. Conservatives need to make that extra effort to do this or they are just spitting into the wind.
Yea, I just copied the link in another post and see all the “google” references.
I think calling the race extremely tight is going to be a disadvantage for Kamala. It will only further encourage people to get out and vote for Trump.
Know why? Because greed and revenue money overrides true principles and the cause. Far too many claim to be conservative and Christian as a cause to defend but money always seems to override those moral principles. These sites that claim this and then turn right around and throw us under the bus with Google and other third parties for money as a first priority really upset me. It is dishonest and misrepresentation. It is bait and switch. It is pure greed over cause and principles.
There are other ways to do it without throwing us under the bus for profit. If the FR can do it without throwing us under the bus they can too.
Ditto for Microsoft, liars all in for Harris/Walz.
