UFOs are supposed to be the stuff of conspiracy theories and fringe documentaries. And yet many high-ranking government officials believe some of the most explosive claims about UFOs to be true. How would this potential reality affect the conservative worldview?
On December 13, 2023 Majority Leader Chuck Schumer took to the Senate floor to deliver remarks which can only be described as incredible. He was speaking about his amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). Remarkably, the subject of this amendment was not Ukraine or China, nor Russia or Iran, but rather UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena, or what used to be called UFOs). Schumer lamented that
The United States government has gathered a great deal of information about UAPs over many decades but has refused to share it with the American people. That is wrong and additionally breeds mistrust. We have also been notified by multiple credible sources that information on UAPs has also been withheld from Congress, which, if true, is a violation of laws requiring full notification to the legislative branch.
These claims—that the executive branch of the government has gathered a “great deal of information” about UAP over “decades” but has refused to share it with the public and has even violated the law by withholding information from congress—are quite simply extraordinary.

If you are going to use that as your example you really should read up on what really was going on.
Galileo was the one who was ranting without evidence and the Catholic Church was actually basing their position on the available scientific evidence.
The angry big mouth turned out to be right and the current best scientific evidence wrong. That is the way it happens sometimes but is really not the way to bet.
I know that people like you are really impressed by military people who say they have seen something that "they can not explain". After you have been around people who are members of the military long enough you realize they put their pants on one leg at a time and are just as subject to be cracked on this or that concept as any civilian.
So sorry but if you want me to take the idea of Interstellar craft seriously you are going to have to come up with some serious evidence.
Something that is sorely lacking.
“ Well if Chuckie Schumer thinks it’s important then it’s a diversion.”
Dirty Harry Reid pushed this crap.
I used to live in the middle of the Mojave. So I’m hip to your unique situation. I am very familiar with the glow of the heads up display in fighter jets. Used to see them buzzing around low all the time. Had them make practice runs on me on lonely roads at night. No like you, there is no way to explain these at all.
“Dirty Harry Reid pushed this crap.”
You too? Well then he was a LOT older than we thought... How old would you say he was? 600 - 700 years old?

Yes, that is what I have heard too.
“I wouldn’t be alarmed if they are, if they wanted to harm us they would have done so long ago. “
Absolutely.
Either way, we should be curious enough to try and learn about them.
Where would we be if we ignored all phenomena that we ‘can’t do anything about’.
“Sounds something like the WWII ‘Foo’ fighters.”
The beginning of the “Modern Age” of UFOs. Allied pilots thought they were some kind of German secret weapon (that didn’t do anything offensive), and the Germans thought they were some kind of Allied navigation aid for the bomber streams hitting targets in Germany.
Similar story apparently in the Pacific Theatre.
The war ended and we were all mistaken.
I don’t recall reading about them in the Pacific...
You’d have been more credible if you pulled a spelling error as justification to reject the facts.
I grew up on a Navy base from a multigenerational military family, so you can drop your insults.
You are the one who should be doing homework about the revelations in the past 6-8 years. The Navy pilots you assail are the same we entrust to deliver a nuclear weapon. So I trust the word of such people when it is corroborated by others and it has been. I would have better luck educating someone from DU on supply side economics than I would attempting to prove this to your satisfaction.
It really seems more like fear that people like you cannot or will not deal with the facts, data, and reality of this phenomenon and the actual threat it might hold.
From your link:
“A beam of light coming from a round opening in the sky to Mary’s head is said by most mainstream art critics and historians to be the halo of the Lord projecting down to Mary.
However, UFO and alien enthusiasts have interpreted the halo as a disc-shaped UFO. Their belief is that Jesus was not divine at all. Instead, it was the result of genetic engineering”
Is this what you believe?
Didn’t figure you as an Art lover as well !
Well, I have to be honest and admit that - even though I believe that people have seen things that can’t be explained for a very long time - there has been very little coming from government or military in recent decades that I’ve really trusted. I’m very suspicious of the events of the last ten years or so in particular.
I think the video below of Maj. Gen. Samford in 1952 may be the last time anyone in government or military was really candid in pronouncing on the issue:

I don’t think ‘genetic engineering’ was suggested.
But it does seem to me that if anyone in those days saw a ‘UFO’ they might easily identify it as an angel or some manifestation of God, and include it in their religious paintings.
I don’t think people then had any concept of ufos or visitors from another planet; they would likely interpret what they saw as a miracle; and these sightings may have developed into commonly recognized symbols in the art of the time.
“Galileo was the one who was ranting without evidence and the Catholic Church was actually basing their position on the available scientific evidence.
The angry big mouth turned out to be right and the current best scientific evidence wrong. “
Galileo had scientific evidence. The Church had fake data.
Anyone who has come to Earth from another habitual world has come from distances that are light years away. Unless they have learned to go at warp speed, it is impossible for any life-form to have crossed the time barrier.
You cherry picked only one to trash because they proved you wrong. Then you try to change the subject. Stay on track. There are many ancient depictions. There are depictions in Egyptian tombs, And in Neolithic cave paintings. They are not new. Harry Reid didn’t do this and it is not a new phenomenon.
