Syrian Opposition Members Celebrate Killing Of Top Hizbullah Commander In Lebanon: He Starved Syrians And Buried Them Alive.

September 24, 2024. Numerous activists affiliated with the Syrian opposition published social media posts expressing joy at Israel’s extensive wave of attacks targeting top Lebanese Hizbullah officials between September 17 and 20, 2024, and especially celebrating the killing of Hizbullah commander Hussein Ali Ghandour in a September 20 Israeli airstrike in Beirut’s southern Dahiyeh district, a known Hizbullah stronghold.

Ghandour was notorious in Syria, primarily due to his role in the siege imposed by the Syrian regime and Hizbullah on the town of Madaya in Rif Dimashq Governorate between July 2015 and April 2017. According to reports from the Syrian opposition during this period, Hizbullah and the Syrian regime laid mines at the entrances to the town to prevent food from being smuggled in to residents, and several cases of death by starvation were also reported. BBC criticised for refusing to call Hezbollah terrorists.

Craig Simpson, 24 September, 2024

The BBC has been criticised for refusing to call Hezbollah terrorists in its coverage of conflict in the Middle East.

In BBC reports on Israeli operations against Hezbollah, the group has been described as a “militia” or an organisation “considered” to be terrorist.

The reporting has followed BBC guidelines, which stipulate that groups such as Hezbollah should be referred to as “militants” rather than terrorists.

They say journalists should “not use the term ‘terrorist’ without attribution”. The BBC will instead use terms that are less “emotive”, such as “gunmen” and “militants”.

The guidelines provoked anger in the wake of the Oct 7 attacks on Israel, when the BBC was criticised for not directly calling Hamas terrorists. tmg.video.placeholder.alt 5aLg7RnNLb0

The Campaign Against Anti-Semitism has voiced concern about what it described as the corporation’s “resistance” to the term.

A spokesman said: “In the wake of the barbaric Oct 7 attacks, when Hamas murdered over 1,200 Israelis and took some 250 hostage, the BBC showed an unbelievable level of resistance to calling Hamas what it is – a terrorist organisation.

“Similarly, Hezbollah is a proscribed anti-Semitic genocidal terror group, and it began attacking Israel from across the border in Lebanon on Oct 8 with no respite.

“Again, the BBC is stubbornly failing to describe Hezbollah in legally accurate terms. Using any other descriptor risks legitimising or downplaying the actions and rhetoric of this and other terror groups. British Jews should be able to expect better from our national broadcaster.” Daily Telegraph

A modern pogrom through history’s lens.

Phyllis Chesler, Sep. 25, 2024.

Can anyone really evaluate Oct. 7—the genocidal pogrom that took place barely a year ago and is not yet over?

After all, scholars are still analyzing pogroms that took place thousands of years ago all over the pagan, Christian and Muslim worlds. Only recently has the scholar Irina Astashkevich documented, in her 2018 work Gendered Violence: Jewish Women in Pogroms: 1917-1921, the terrifying but typical details of the rape and femicide of Jewish women during pogroms that took place more than a century ago.

More than 1,000 pogroms took place in 500 locales. Lives, as well as minds, were lost. Entire communities were erased. In the aftermath, some women attempted suicide, others succeeded, some women stopped menstruating and others had to be psychiatrically hospitalized, most were afraid to go outside forever afterward.

In Astashkevich’s words: “The carnival of violence, complete with scenes of torture, rape and murder, played out on the second day of the pogrom as ‘celebratory street theater.’ Pogrom perpetrators purposefully drove Jews into the streets and hunted down their victims … acts of torture took place in front of an audience of pogrom perpetrators, the local population and frightened Jews. The ritualized violence reiterated the previous pogroms, but often in a more grotesque and horrifying form … . Pogromschiki bayoneted their victims, careful not to kill them, but to leave the wounded to suffer and bleed to death in agony that sometimes lasted for several days … . Pogromschiki made sure that all the apothecaries were wrecked, and there was no medical assistance.”

Even now, decades later, original and important analyses are still emerging about the Holocaust.

Just this year, my friend and colleague, Shulamit Reinharz, published an extraordinary book, Hiding in Holland: A Resistance Memoir, which breaks new ground about how some Jews may have survived the Nazis by hiding and by being hidden. Reinharz’s work, which relied upon her father’s “hidden” memoirs letters and conversations, required her considerable academic skills and access to a vast and still-growing literature on the Holocaust and the perspective that more than 80 years in the future can provide.

I immediately knew that Oct. 7 was a pogrom, yet my understanding of what was unique about this particular Iranian-funded crime against the Jewish people and humanity overall has evolved in the months since the initial attack. As we approach the first anniversary of that horrific event, a number of items stand out.

First: Hamas terrorists recorded live video footage of their atrocities and released it on social media. They even sent it to the families of those who were tortured, raped, murdered or kidnapped.

Second: The attacks unleashed an ugly and increasingly ominous global firestorm that has cheered on Hamas’s sadism as “resistance” and condemned all Israeli civilians—be they Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Druze or Buddhist. It has also led to a seemingly unstoppable, propaganda-driven, worldwide siege against the Jews.

Third: The alleged “progressives” in the West, including the feminists who have, at the very least, paid lip service in vocalizing their opposition to the torture, gang rapes and murders of women, children and dissidents in countries like Afghanistan, Algeria, Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria, Rwanda and Sudan, have remained silent. They refuse to condemn Hamas’s brutality against women on Oct. 7 despite myriad video evidence of the atrocities.

Fourth: Many governments and international organizations keep demanding more and more proof of Hamas’s actions and continue to deny the Oct. 7 atrocities. Yet these same actors have not denied any other 21st-century genocides.

Fifth: More people now know that the raging, masked, keffiyeh-wearing demonstrators who have been flooding American and European cities and campuses since Oct. 7 have been bought and paid for by Russia, Iran, Arab oil money, and woke American philanthropists and foundations. It is also now clear that these same groups have been preparing for this moment for 60 years.

Sixth: As some have suggested, Hamas’s behavior on Oct. 7 seems to have been influenced by the most sadistic pornography, as well as by mood-altering drugs. This sadism rivals and may even exceed the horror of other pogroms or war zones. JNS

Oppressed lovers of freedom everywhere are secretly rooting for Israel to win.

Bernard-Henri Lévy, September 25, 2024.

The war with Hamas is existential for all of Western civilisation

The circle is nearly complete.

It is almost the same picture, but worse, that we watched take shape at the time of the war against the Kurds and again with the war against Ukraine—which, incidentally, continued unabated in a world where everything was suddenly splitting in two: the media’s focus, the attention of foreign ministries, and even military aid, which some political leaders, expecting Trump to return to power and taking advantage of the general confusion, would like to let fall by the wayside.

Could it be said that this upheaval is not really an upheaval this time around since it is just the same old song?

Is it the fortress Europe (and America) emitting its endless but familiar supply of collaborators and appeasers?

Yes and no.

It is as if tectonic plates had been rubbing together, sliding, overlapping, and separating before suddenly interlocking in a new pattern.

And for today’s observers, the current scene is a panorama where everything seems perfectly in place.

Hamas is no longer Hamas but, instead, the sword and toy of a counter-empire wherein the protagonists of the preceding wars have come together permanently.

And Israel, reciprocally, is a little more than just Israel.

It carries the message, even if unknowingly, of the Uyghurs of China, the intrepid bloggers of the Arab autocracies, the proponents of the Armenian cause in Istanbul who detest Erdogan and his fables of the Grand Turk, the strong souls of Kurdistan, the Iranian insurgents who continue to cry “Woman, Life, Freedom,” the opponents whom Putin deports, sends into internal exile, and assassinates—and also, perhaps in spite of themselves, the Palestinians in silent revolt against the Hamas dictatorship.

This has nothing to do with a war between West and East.

Nor with the “war of civilizations” that some, already lining up their legions, are hoping for.

Or maybe it does.

But in that case, one of the civilizations is the fine Internationale of the friends of liberty, law, and the spirit of resistance, drawing its members from within the new and ancient empires alike.

And the other is the civilization of tyrants and demagogues whose followers are recruited in the West no less than in the East or South.

The Maharal of Prague wrote in Netzach Yisrael that, in contrast to kingdoms and empires, which are extensive, Israel is a point, a single point, but what a point!

The central and hidden point, secret and essential, upon which rests, in the terrible dramaturgy of history, a piece of human survival.

So there we have it. Israel is not a pawn, but a point.

It is the hearth that radiates a light and a language without which a part of humanity would be lost.

Israel exists in a kind of solitude, no doubt.

A terrible solitude.

But to paraphrase Albert Camus, there are women and men, many women and many men, who would be very alone indeed without this solitary presence and who pray each morning and each evening, more or less secretly and silently, summoning whatever boldness their status as hostages of the five kings allows, for Israel to win its war against the empire of Hamas.

Excerpted from Israel Alone by Bernard-Henri Levy – Out in the UK October 24th. The JC

A Lebanese doctor and friend of Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad agitates against Israel on the German state broadcaster.

The Lebanese doctor Dr Mousa Youssef (right) made serious accusations against Israel in the ‘Tagesschau’ news programme. Here he poses with Iranian ex-president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, under whose rule opponents of the regime were murdered and terrorists financed Photo: ahmadinejadmedia/Instagram A‘ news report on the war between the terrorist militia Hezbollah and Israel raises questions.

On Tuesday evening, the German TV channel ARD had a Lebanese doctor present alleged casualty figures and serious accusations against Israel without categorising them. The doctor’s statements even contradict official Lebanese figures. An Instagram photo of the doctor casts doubt on his credibility.

In the 8 p.m. news broadcast, ‘Tagesschau’ interviewed Dr Mousa Youssef, the director of a clinic in southern Lebanon. The area is controlled by the Islamist Hezbollah; the militia has fired thousands of rockets at Israel since October.

Youssef says in the programme about the operation in southern Lebanon, which Israel’s army has launched in its defence: ‘These are massacres of civilians and not military attacks, as they claim.’ The doctor does not mention the fact that Hezbollah is firing rockets at Israel from there and endangering the entire region. He claims: ‘90 per cent of the injured here are children.’

Are nine out of ten victims of Israeli airstrikes really children? This figure, which was not commented on in the ‘Tagesschau’ programme, would not only be shockingly high. It would also be extremely untypical for Israeli attacks on terrorist targets, although civilian casualties do occur in all military operations, especially when terrorists are hiding in residential neighbourhoods. If 90 per cent of the casualties were children, this would mean that an army was firing on full schools or kindergartens. This is not the case, according to official figures: According to Lebanon’s Ministry of Health, 558 people died in the airstrikes, although the authority deliberately does not distinguish between terrorists and civilians. 50 of the dead are said to be children, which would be 8.9 per cent. The fact that around nine per cent of the dead and 90 per cent of the injured are children is hardly possible.

Dr Mousa Youssef, who spoke of ‘90 per cent children’ in the ‘Tagesschau’, does not attract attention on social networks for his political statements. However, he seems to have no fear of contact with the world’s worst Islamists, Jew-haters and terror princes, posing in a photo with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (67), the former president of the Iranian mullah regime. The same regime that finances and controls the Lebanese Hezbollah militia, which started the war against Israel.

Ahmadinejad made a name for himself worldwide by calling for the annihilation of the Jewish state and organising a Holocaust denial conference. The Iranian president invited neo-Nazis and conspiracy theorists from all over the world to the conference. Even by mullah standards, Ahmadinejad was considered particularly crazy.

Like all mullah leaders, he brutally oppressed his people and financed terrorists all over the world. These included the Palestinian Hamas, whose murderers he supported with money and weapons. He also had the 2009 wave of protests crushed and dozens of demonstrators killed.

Dr Youssef gave him a hug and a friendly smile in 2019.

French far-left leader, long accused of antisemitism, backs Hezbollah ‘resistance’ over Israel’s ‘invading army,’” Algemeiner, September 25, 2024:

The leader of France’s largest leftist coalition in government appeared to have declared open support for Hezbollah as the Iran-backed terrorist organization based in Lebanon continued to clash with Israel.

“Mass killing in Lebanon by Netanyahu’s invading army,” Jean-Luc Melenchon posted on X/Twitter on Monday, referring to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “The toll is getting worse by the hour. Full support for the national resistance of the Lebanese.”

Then on Tuesday, Melenchon continued to attack Israel on social media, tweeting, “After the terrorist attacks in Lebanon, Netanyahu inflicts bombings on this country up to 130 kilometers deep! The so-called international community lets it happen. The Lebanese are despised and abandoned. Shame on Europe that looks the other way.”

Hezbollah has been pummeling northern Israeli communities almost daily with barrages of drones, rockets, and missiles from its stronghold of Lebanon, which borders the Jewish state, since the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas invaded southern Israel from neighboring Gaza on Oct. 7.

More than 60,000 Israelis have been forced to evacuate their homes in northern Israel and flee to other parts of the country amid the unrelenting attacks from Hezbollah…. Algemeiner

Syrian Writer: Hizbullah, Which Has Carried Out Horrifying Massacres Against Arab Civilians, Has Earned The Hatred Of The Arab Nations. September 27, 2024. The recent assassination of many senior Hizbullah commanders in the context of the military escalation between Hizbullah and Israel has sparked gleeful responses in the Arab world on the part of Hizbullah opponents and victims.[1] At the same time, Hizbullah supporters have spoken out against the glee at Hizbullah’s plight.

Against this backdrop, Syrian journalist Rami Al-Khalifah Al-Ali wrote in his column in the Saudi daily Okaz that the Arab nations hate Hizbullah because it has carried out crimes and sown chaos in many Arab countries.

He wrote that as one of the key allies of the regime of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, Hizbullah carried out “horrifying crimes” and “massacres” against unarmed Syrian civilians during the Syrian civil war, including: a brutal siege against civilians that prevented them from receiving food and medicine; the total destruction of entire cities; and the transfer of extremist operatives into Syrian territory. Al-Ali also wrote that in addition to Syria, Hizbullah has sown chaos in Lebanon and Yemen, has supported the Houthis in their war against Saudi Arabia, has killed innocent civilians, and has developed a large drug trafficking industry throughout the region. Al-Ali concluded that it is therefore not surprising that the Arabs hate Hizbullah.

Hizbullah fighters in Al-Qusayr, Syria. Source: An-Nahar (Lebanon), November 20, 2016.

The following is a translation of Al-Ali’s article:

“In the summer and fall of 2015, the residents of the Syrian city of Madaya were subject to the worst siege humanity has seen in the 21st century. This siege was a live example of the brutality and barbarity of the Hizbullah militias, which denied the residents of the city their most basic human rights by denying them food and medicine, leading to the death of many children, sick people, and elderly... An airstrike killed a senior Hezbollah leader in a strike on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Thursday afternoon, the military said, with fighting between Israel and the Iran-backed terror group showing little sign of slowing as an international bid to secure a ceasefire appeared to fall apart.

The strike in the Hezbollah stronghold of Dahiyeh targeted the head of Hezbollah’s aerial forces, Mohammed Srur, who is largely responsible for the terror group’s drone fleet along with cruise missiles and aerial defenses.

Lebanon’s health ministry said two people were killed in the attack.

According to the military, Srur directed and commanded numerous and various aerial attacks on Israel, including explosive-laden drones and cruise missiles.

In recent years, the IDF said, he led Hezbollah’s drone manufacturing, and established sites in Lebanon where the terror group would build explosive UAVs, some of which were under civilian buildings in Beirut. TOI

Sarur oversaw numerous drone and missile attacks on Israeli territory and, over the last few years, had been a project leader in drone production and had established drone production sites, a number of which were embedded in civilian structures in Beirut and other locations in Lebanon.

Sarur joined Hezbollah in 1980 and held numerous positions in the terror organization, including the commander of the "Aziz" Unit, the Radwan Force's surface-to-air missile unit, the military added.

Children were shot and burned alive on October 7, forensic evidence shows. Police cyber and forensics teams work tirelessly collecting hundreds of thousands of video clips and testimonies across communities near the Gaza border to uncover facts about Hamas' brutal killing of children. Warning: viewer discretion is advised. Ariela Ayalon | published:09.26.24 | 14:38

Warning: The article contains graphic descriptions. Viewer discretion is advised.

Israel Police data released on Thursday revealed 27 children between the ages of 0-17 were shot and burned alive on October 7. Commander Dudi Katz, the Israel Police special investigations unit’s Lahav 433’s cyber unit chief, was tasked with analyzing digital forensic evidence.

One of the recordings received by the cyber team investigating one of the kibbutzim near the Gaza border featured a child's voice. The girl was on a call with the police emergency center while being held by a terrorist. She begged the terrorist to let her go, saying she was just a child and had school the next day. Despite the police dispatcher's pleas, the terrorist shot her to death. Her burnt remains were later located.

([6]. Photo: REUTERS /Ronen Zvulun)

This is just one of the many heartbreaking stories that police investigators have uncovered. The data, testimonies and hundreds of thousands of videos have been analyzed by Lahav 433, the national unit investigating the events of October 7. "We collected 11,666 videos that provide a comprehensive evidentiary basis gathered from various sources from just one kibbutz, which will enable us to file some of the most severe indictments against the perpetrators of these brutal terror acts," said Superintendent Reut Anoim, head of Lahav 433’ cyber investigation division.

The data and testimonies were also collected from ZAKA Search and Rescue volunteers who operated in the kibbutz. Six days after the deadly assault began, ZAKA personnel returned to ensure no evidence was overlooked, guided by the smell of decay, flies and other signs. In one room, they found the small body of a child and the body of a woman in the stairwell. Both bodies were so badly burned they were nearly unrecognizable. The only thing left of the mother was her bra, and of the child, only ashes remained.

([7] Devestation after the Hamas massacre at Kfar Aza. Photo: Gil Yohanan)

"Each cyber unit and the International Crime Investigations Unit was assigned to gather and analyze evidence based on specific areas. We relied on a web of testimonies collected from CCTV cameras in the affected towns, private homes near the Gaza border, testimonies from hostages, ZAKA volunteers, Hamas terrorists' body cameras and social media posts,” Anoim said. Any evidence that could not be verified was dismissed. "All the materials we used helped complete an evidentiary framework as we worked hard to maintain the highest standards of verification and cross-referencing, compared to the fake materials circulating on social media,” she added, Katz explained the challenge was interpreting the significance of the evidence they located. "As a law enforcement officer, I only work with definitive evidence. When I see a child shot with a severed finger, I can describe and document the scene but cannot definitively state the cause, as the finger may not have been intentionally severed but instead was injured by a fragment from the explosion in the safe room."

However, Katz was unequivocal about one fact: the torture of children by Hamas' Nukhba terrorists. "That children were burned, shot and murdered alongside their parents is a proven fact. Children witnessed their parents being murdered and we found a scene with a pile of bodies from the same family more than once."

Among the other harrowing scenes was a photograph of a baby who was murdered alongside her father who tried to protect his family. She was the youngest victim of October 7. Another case that Katz said he would never forget was the tragic story of the Taasa family from Netiv HaAsara. The father, Gil, threw himself on a grenade that terrorists had tossed into their home to save his children from witnessing the horror. In another video, "We identified a child around six or seven years old whose body was burnt, but his face remained intact. His glazed expression indicated that he had been burned alive,” Katz recounted.

([8] Home in Kibbutz Be'eri after Hamas' attack. Photo: Gadi Kablo).

Over 90 members of Kibbutz Be'eri were murdered on October 7. The kibbutz secretary, Gal Cohen, said that the highest number of children murdered was in his community. "What the children here went through is incomprehensible and we’re still burying our dead. This is an open wound, and we haven't digested it yet.” “We’re scarred, but we’re rebuilding and trying to recover. Parents and grandparents who lost their children and grandchildren have said they will never set foot in the kibbutz again because they see the victims everywhere they look,” he added. YNet

I have a message to the world - we are winning.

Netanyahu at UN: I have a message to the world - we are winning. The Prime Minister spoke at the General Assembly of the UN, against the backdrop of escalating conflict with Hezbollah and nearly a year of fighting in the Gaza Strip. Yoni Kempinski, Sep 27, 2024, 4:04 PM (GMT+3)

After nearly a year since the outbreak of the war, and in the height of the conflict with Hezbollah, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke today (Friday) at the UN General Assembly. In his speech, he addressed the continuation of the fighting in Lebanon and the Iranian threat.

"On October 7th, terrorists invaded Israel and inflicted the worst atrocities imaginable. We will not rest until the remaining hostages are brought home," he declared.

"I have with me family members of the hostages. I promise all families, we will return your loved ones home. We will not stop until this is accomplished."

"We are facing the curse of Iran or the blessing of Jew and Arab," Netanyahu stated, while displaying maps of two possible futures in the Middle East - one showing normalization with Arab countries, the other showing continued war against Iran and its allies. "Israel seeks peace, Israel makes peace, and Israel will make peace again."

"Iran funds terror networks on five continents. For too long, the world has appeased Iran. That appeasement must end now."

"I call on the Security Council to stop support for Iran, we must ensure that Iran never gets nuclear weapons. Iran's militia have targeted us as well. Residents of Judea and Samaria have also attacked Israel."

My message to Tehran: "If you strike us, we will strike you. We will reach everywhere in the Middle East."

United States President Joe Biden addressed the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, which was opened in New York for the 79th time, discussing his vision for the future of the United States and the conflict in Israel.

"The nations of the world must not ignore the horrors that were committed on October 7," he said.

"Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and slaughtered 1,200 people, including people who were dancing at a party, and committed acts of rape and sexual violence. I met with families of the hostages who are enduring unimaginable suffering."

"Terrorists steal food that we allow into Gaza, then they hype the prices, and that's how they stay in power. Hamas has got to go."

"This war can come to an end now - Hamas has to surrender, lay down its arms and release all the hostages!"

"On the day after the massacre, Hezbollah attacked Israel causing thousands of Israelis to be displaced. This has been going on for almost a year. The US would not accept this for even a day."

"Hezbollah has fired rockets and missiles from private homes, schools and hospitals. Israel has no choice and Israel has every right to stop this. And that is exactly what we are going to do."

"Peace with Saudi Arabia would enable partnerships in many, many fields, a true pivot of history, historical reconciliation between Mecca and Jerusalem."

"One of the best ways to foil Iran's plans is to achieve this peace - also with the US and others who choose peace."

"I believe this can materialize and much sooner than we believe. This is an opportunity that we and the world cannot let go by."

"What choice would the world make - stand with a democracy and peace or a country that supports terror?"

"Even in this hall - evil is portrayed as good and good is portrayed as evil. This is an absurdity - that all that we do - bringing food into Gaza - and we are portrayed as evil. No army has done what Israel has done to protect civilians."

"I spoke from this podium, as Ambassador to the UN, in 1984 - 40 years ago. Then I spoke against a proposal to expel Israel from the UN. Now I am talking against the same proposal - not by Hamas, but by Mahmoud Abbas, who is supposed to be our peace partner."

"During that speech, I told everyone - check your fanaticism at the door. And today I say the same. For the Palestinians this home of darkness is their home court."

"The ICC does not consider Israel the democracy that it is. The real criminals are in Gaza, Iran, Yemen."

"Those who stand with the side of evil, should be ashamed of yourselves. Israel will win this battle - because we don't have a choice. After generations where we were slaughtered and nobody stood up for us - we are now defending ourselves."

"The torch of Israel will shine forever. Am Yisrael Chai." INN

Hassan Nasrallah: Terror chief made Hezbollah a regional force, ignored Israeli warnings. Lebanese cleric, 64, was threatening public face of anti-Israel Hezbollah terror group founded by Iran. Was killed by IDF after intensifying rocket attacks on north since Oct. 8 By Agencies and ToI Staff September 28, 2024.

Hezbollah terror chief Hassan Nasrallah, who led the Iranian-backed terror group through decades of conflict with Israel, was killed in an airstrike in Beirut on September 27, the Israel Defense Forces has confirmed.

Born in the Shia suburbs of Beirut in 1960, the radical Lebanese cleric oversaw Hezbollah’s transformation into a military force with regional sway to become one of the most prominent Arab figures in generations. An astute strategist, Nasrallah reshaped Hezbollah into an archenemy of Israel, cementing alliances with Shiite religious leaders in Iran and Palestinian terror groups such as Hamas.

Nasrallah became secretary general of Hezbollah in 1992 at just 35, the public face of a once shadowy group founded by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in 1982 to fight Israel. It was the first group that Iran backed and used as a way to export its brand of political Islam.

Despite the power he wielded, Nasrallah lived largely in hiding for fear of an Israeli assassination. Israel killed his predecessor, Sayyed Abbas al-Musawi, in a helicopter attack. Nasrallah led Hezbollah when the IDF withdrew its forces from southern Lebanon in 2000, after 18 years.

Nasrallah grew up in Beirut’s impoverished Karantina district. His family hails from Bazouriyeh, a village in Lebanon’s predominantly Shiite south which today forms Hezbollah’s political heartland.

He is part of a generation of young Lebanese Shiites whose political outlook was shaped by Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Before leading the group, he used to spend nights with frontline guerrillas fighting Israel in the so-called security stone that the IDF had set up inside southern Lebanon to distance terror groups from the border. His 18-year-old son, Hadi, a Hezbollah fighter, was killed with three other gunmen in an Israeli ambush in 1997, a loss that gave him legitimacy among his core Shiite constituency in Lebanon.

He was targeted on Friday in an Israeli attack on Hezbollah’s main underground headquarters that rocked Beirut, the latest in an escalating series of blows over 10 days that have shaken the group he has led for 32 years.

Nasrallah was unreachable following Israel’s strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on Friday evening, a source close to the Lebanese armed group initially told Reuters. His death was confirmed on Saturday morning by the IDF. Hours after the strikes, Hezbollah had not made a statement on his fate.

Among supporters, Nasrallah was lauded for standing up to Israel and defying the United States. To enemies, he was head of a terrorist organization seeking to destroy the Jewish state and a proxy for Iran’s rapacious Shiite Islamist theocracy in its tussle for influence in the Middle East.

His regional influence has been on display over nearly a year of conflict ignited by the Gaza war, as Hezbollah entered the fray by firing on Israel from southern Lebanon in support of its Palestinian ally Hamas, and Yemeni and Iraqi groups followed suit, operating under the umbrella of “The Axis of Resistance.”

Hezbollah began firing rockets at Israel on October 8, the day after the Hamas massacre in southern Israel that killed 1,200 people and took 251 hostages.

“We are facing a great battle,” Nasrallah said in an August 1 speech at the funeral of Hezbollah’s top military commander, Fuad Shukr, who was killed in an Israeli strike on the Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs of Beirut.

Yet when thousands of Hezbollah members were injured and dozens killed, when their communications devices exploded in an apparent Israeli attack last week, that battle began to turn against his group. Israel has not commented on the attack, even though it was widely blamed for it.

Responding to the attacks on Hezbollah’s communications network in a September 19 speech, Nasrallah vowed to punish Israel.

“This is a reckoning that will come, its nature, its size, how and where? This is certainly what we will keep to ourselves and in the narrowest circle even within ourselves,” he said. He did not have a broadcast address since then.

Charismatic orator.

Recognized even by his enemies as a charismatic orator, Nasrallah’s speeches were followed by friend and foe alike.

Wearing the black turban of a sayyed, or a descendent of the .. Mohammad, Nasrallah used his addresses to rally Hezbollah’s base but also to deliver carefully calibrated threats, often wagging his finger as he did so.

Conflict with Israel has largely defined his leadership. He declared “Divine Victory” in 2006 after Hezbollah waged 34 days of war with Israel, winning the respect of many ordinary Arabs who had grown up watching Israel defeat their armies.

But he became an increasingly divisive figure in Lebanon and the wider Arab world as Hezbollah’s area of operations widened to Syria and beyond, reflecting an intensifying conflict between Shiite Iran and US-allied Sunni Arab monarchies in the Gulf.

While Nasrallah painted Hezbollah’s engagement in Syria — where it fought in support of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during the civil war — as a campaign against jihadists, critics accused the group of becoming part of a regional sectarian conflict.

At home, Nasrallah’s critics said Hezbollah’s regional adventurism imposed an unbearable price on Lebanon, leading once-friendly Gulf Arabs to shun the country — a factor that contributed to its 2019 financial collapse.

In the years following the 2006 war, Nasrallah walked a tightrope over a new conflict with Israel, stockpiling tens of thousands of Iranian rockets and missiles to form a deterrent “balance of terror” in a carefully measured contest of threat and counter-threat.

The Gaza war, ignited by the October 7 Hamas invasion and slaughter in southern Israel, prompted Hezbollah’s worst conflict with Israel since 2006, after the terrorist organization began raining down barrages of projectiles and drones on northern Israel. Some 60,000 Israelis have been forced from their homes, and Israel stepped up its attacks on Hezbollah in a declared effort to enable their return. The IDF’s retaliation to the Hezbollah strikes has cost the terror group hundreds of its fighters, including many of its top commanders.

After years of entanglements elsewhere, the conflict put renewed focus on Hezbollah’s historic struggle with Israel.

“We are here paying the price for our front of support for Gaza, and for the Palestinian people, and our adoption of the Palestinian cause,” Nasrallah said in the August 1 speech.

Powerful enemies – and a powerful protector. Nasrallah had a track record of threatening powerful enemies.

As regional tensions escalated after the eruption of the Gaza war, Nasrallah issued a thinly veiled warning to US warships in the Mediterranean, telling them: “We have prepared for the fleets with which you threaten us.”

In 2020, Nasrallah vowed that US soldiers would leave the region in coffins after Iranian general Qassem Soleimani — head of the Quds Force of the IRGC, a US-designated terror group — was killed in a US drone strike in Iraq.

He expressed fierce opposition to Saudi Arabia over its armed intervention in Yemen, where, with US and other allied support, Riyadh sought to roll back the Iran-aligned Houthis.

IRGC operative Hajj Muhammad Radwan, better known as Mohammed Bashir, is seen in an undated photo with Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah. (Shin Bet)

As regional tensions rose in 2019 following an attack on Saudi oil facilities, he said Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates should halt the Yemen war to protect themselves.

“Don’t bet on a war against Iran because they will destroy you,” he said in a message directed at Riyadh.

On Nasrallah’s watch, Hezbollah also clashed with adversaries at home in Lebanon.

In 2008, he accused the Lebanese government — backed at the time by the West and Saudi Arabia — of declaring war by moving to ban his group’s internal communication network. Nasrallah vowed to “cut off the hand” that tried to dismantle it.

It prompted four days of civil war pitting Hezbollah against Sunni and Druze fighters, and the Shiite group to take over half the capital Beirut.

He strongly denied any Hezbollah involvement in the 2005 assassination of former Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri, after a UN-backed tribunal indicted four members of the group.

Nasrallah rejected the tribunal — which in 2020 eventually convicted three of them in absentia over the assassination — as a tool in the hands of Hezbollah’s enemies.

Israel in recent days and weeks had vowed to gradually escalate its attacks on Hezbollah unless it halted its rocket fire and entered a diplomatic process for withdrawing its forces deeper into Lebanon. Nasrallah ignored the threat and the escalating attacks.

On Friday, in a speech to the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel “must defeat” Hezbollah.

“It has tentacles that span all continents. It has murdered more Americans and more Frenchmen than any group except Bin Laden,” he said. “And it has attacked Israel viciously over the last 20 years.”

“In the last year, completely unprovoked,” he went on, Hezbollah’s attacks “turned vibrant towns in the north of Israel into ghost towns… Israel has been tolerating this intolerable situation for nearly a year. Well, I’ve come here today to say enough is enough.”

Shortly before delivering the speech, Netanyahu had approved the deadly strike on Nasrallah. TOI

Who was Hassan Nasrallah? The profile of a terror leader. Hassan Nasrallah began his journey in terror at the age of 16, and headed the Hezbollah terror organization for 32 years. He is responsible for the murder of thousands of American, Lebanese, and Israeli civilians. Israel National News. Sep 28, 2024, 8:15 PM (GMT+3)

In a Friday afternoon operation, the IDF eliminated Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah during an airstrike in Lebanon.

In 1976, at the age of 16, Hassan Nasrallah traveled to Iraq where he met Abbas al-Musawim, who later served as the Secretary-General of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, and he joined the Shia Islamic movement, the Dawa Party, many of whose members later joined Hezbollah.

In 1982, he left the Amal Movement and, with the help of other Shia Islamic figures and Iranian support, established the Hezbollah terrorist organization, in which he obtained a senior position among Hezbollah’s founders. Shortly after, he was given responsibility for the Beqaa area, at just 22 years old.

In 1985, he was appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Beirut Council, one of the three branches of the organization at that time, and quickly became the organization's military leader in the city. Additionally, he served as a member of Hezbollah's Political Bureau.

In 1987, he was appointed Head of the Operational Executive Council of the organization, and became a member of Hezbollah's Supreme Council. Following the elimination of Hezbollah leader Abbas Musawi, Nasrallah was appointed to replace him at just 32 years old, and has since served as the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization.

During his 32 years as Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah was responsible for the murder of numerous Israeli civilians and soldiers, planning and executing thousands of terrorist actions against Israeli citizens and others around the world. He served as the central decision-maker of all strategic decisions within the terrorist organization. INN

Opinion: Eliminating Nasrallah: Israel's genius line of moves.

A new order now prevails in the Middle East, and an Iranian response will only worsen its already precarious situation. However, in order to eliminate the threat from the north, the IDF must operate on the ground in Lebanon, and its destruction will only come by taking territory. By Boaz Haetzni. 25 of Elul 5784. Eliminating Nasrallah: Israel's genius line of moves.

Some preliminary insights into the "New Order" in the Middle East.

Within two weeks, Israel managed to break into pieces the most significant Iranian arm , in a series of moves that the word "genius" is a few measures short of.

-Nasrallah and the top left of the organization would not come together to the headquarters for the meeting . This was made possible by a deception exercise from the most sophisticated in the history of talks about a ceasefire and Netanyahu's trip, who gave a rather banal speech at the UN. They thought that against the background of global pressures to stop the war, and to take the foot off the gas that was manifested in Netanyahu's trip, it would be possible to come to the headquarters and enjoy the speech. They were a little wrong.

-It was impossible to go out to eliminate Nasrallah when his entire system was in place, because we would have taken unimaginable amounts of missiles on our heads and paid huge prices. We had to first deal a fatal blow to their precise and long-range launch capabilities.

-It was impossible to break these capabilities as long as Radwan's force sat on the border and was able to invade the Galilee. It was necessary to hurt him significantly. Indeed, most of his commanders were eliminated with Ibrahim Akil in Beirut.

-It was impossible to carry out this elimination as long as Hezbollah was an organized and hierarchical organization with enormous capabilities. The top command of the organization had to be hit and this was done by the unbelievable operation of the pagers and walkie-talkies. The loss of trust in electronic means of communication meant that they had to gather together, and there they were eliminated together, again and again.

All of this could not have been accomplished without intelligence at an unprecedented level, through which Israel simply knows everything and only chooses the timing of each action. All this could not have been accomplished without the imaginative capabilities of the Air Force. It was impossible to do this if they did not prepare enough armaments for Lebanon in advance, and probably for Iran as well, and not be dependent on American pressure. In Gaza they underestimated Hamas and did not prepare anything, and there a dependency was created. In Lebanon it is a completely different story. And this is the place to compliment the Aman, the Mossad, the IDF, all the commanders, the government and the prime minister. Yes, yes, all those reviled, quite rightly, should now receive applause when it comes, and the day is very, very coming.

One of the results of the new situation is that Israel announced through the communication of the Beirut airport control tower that it must not allow an approaching Iranian plane to land, and on the order of the Lebanese Minister of Transport, who is a representative of Hezbollah, the plane turned around and returned. Someone new is handing out the instructions in Lebanon starting this morning.

Hezbollah is now reacting like a snake whose head has been cut off. Twisting, twisting but not really existing. Of course, now we must finish the work, destroy the missile stockpiles, eliminate the operatives, and change the situation on the ground. Iran must not be allowed to rebuild this monster.

The security of the north will only come after the IDF enters Lebanon by ground. First of all, the firing of the short-range rockets, 0-13 km, is the most massive, because these rockets are small, cheap, easy to hide and difficult to destroy, therefore only ground entry will stop the shooting This will remove the danger of invasion and kidnapping.

Israel, like it or not, must place the border on the Litani River, which is a natural and defensible border, in contrast to the current absurd line established more than a century ago by France and Great Britain for their imperialist considerations, and is dangerous for Israel. Israel has been suffering from Lebanon for 50 years of shelling and terrorist attacks, so it is justified in taking territory that will ensure that this stops.

By the way, until Litani this is the northern part of the Upper Galilee, part of Eretz Israel, it's time to settle this account as well. Shiite residents who have been poisoned for 24 years by Hezbollah's education system must not remain in this area. There is a price for attacks, shelling, and plots and threats of annihilation. The law of the territory up to the litany is the law of the Golan Heights. There is no victory in the Middle East without taking territory, and this is another reason to do it. Likewise in Gaza.

After the fall of Hezbollah, the Shiites are exposed to the revenge of the Sunnis, and there is a situation that they will now receive the treatment they gave to the Sunnis in Syria and Lebanon. And now Iran stands naked in the middle of the field, entangled in a crazy dilemma.

Its main force, Hezbollah, is incompetent. She prepared him for the day when Israel would want to attack its nuclear facilities, and now he is gone. If it attacks, it will thereby give Israel a great reason to attack it, and it has no idea about the depth of Israel's intelligence and penetration into its systems, that is, it has an idea, and therefore it trembles and did not react to the elimination of the Niyya, despite the promises and the flags of revenge. If she doesn't attack, she is eliminated in the eyes of everyone who trusted her, all her allies, and that's after she oversaw the destruction of Hamas and Gaza.

This could also be the end of her dream of an empire which was supposed to be a continental continuum from Iran, through Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, to the Mediterranean Sea. All her investment went down the drain and was thwarted.

Iran, like many scum throughout history, used anti-Semitism to sneak its strengthening and conquests. As soon as someone speaks and acts against the Jews, he is forgiven in the world for every evil and injustice. Nazi Germany peacefully ruled most of Europe throughout the war years. They forgave her for everything because she did the work for them against the Jews.

Part of the European tolerance today for Muslims who take over their countries stems from the fact that Muslims are at the forefront of hatred and murder towards the Jews and Israel. The world saw this Nazi Germany resurrected in the form of Iran and shrugged its shoulders, because it wrapped the intensification with hatred of Israel and solemn promises of its destruction.

But here is the twist in the plot. The State of Israel could not but prepare accordingly, and prepared the response well, and it was this anti-Semitic exercise that led to its downfall. If she had not put Israel at the center of her goal, she could have realized this imperialist dream of hers without interruption.

This will perhaps be a lesson for the future for all scum, that it might actually be better not to mess with the Jews, according to the old rule "started with us, finished with the angel of death". Can you hear Hassan?

If Israel finishes the job in Lebanon and Gaza, its deterrence will be restored for many years, many countries will seek its proximity, the sales of the defense industry will skyrocket, and the effect of American pressure will also decrease, because if the immediate danger from Israel is removed, the threat level will decrease, and Israel's need for American assistance will not will be so desperate, all this together with the Israeli understanding of the need for as much independence as possible in the production of military equipment. Biden and Harris call the Israeli strike killing Hezbollah’s Nasrallah a ‘measure of justice’. By Aamer Madhani and Matthew Lee Updated 3:25 PM EDT, September 28, 2024.

Rehoboth Beach, Del. (AP) — The Israeli strike that killed Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah was a “measure of justice” for victims of a four-decade “reign of terror,” President Joe Biden said Saturday.

The comments came after Lebanon’s Hezbollah group confirmed earlier Saturday that Nasrallah, one of the group’s founders, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut the previous day.

Biden noted that the operation to take out Nasrallah took place in the broader context of the conflict that began with Hamas’ massacre of Israelis on Oct. 7, 2023.

“Nasrallah, the next day, made the fateful decision to join hands with Hamas and open what he called a ‘northern front’ against Israel,” Biden said in a statement.

He also noted that Hezbollah under Nasrallah’s watch has been responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans, Israelis and Lebanese.

Hezbollah attacks against U.S. interests include the truck bombing of the U.S. Embassy and multinational force barracks in Beirut in 1983 and the kidnapping of the Central Intelligence Agency chief of station in Beirut, who died while held captive. The U.S. said Hezbollah leaders armed and trained militias that carried out attacks on American forces during the war in Iraq. AP

'Today, Hezbollah’s victims have a measure of justice’: VP Harris echoes Biden’s approval of Nasrallah killing. By Jacob Magid. September 28, 2024, 9:01 pm

US Vice President Kamala Harris echoes President Joe Biden’s tepid approval of Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah yesterday in Beirut.

“Hassan Nasrallah was a terrorist with American blood on his hands. Across decades, his leadership of Hezbollah destabilized the Middle East and led to the killing of countless innocent people in Lebanon, Israel, Syria, and around the world. Today, Hezbollah’s victims have a measure of justice,” Harris says in a statement.

“I have an unwavering commitment to the security of Israel. I will always support Israel’s right to defend itself against Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis,” she adds.

“President Biden and I do not want to see conflict in the Middle East escalate into a broader regional war. We have been working on a diplomatic solution along the Israel-Lebanon border so that people can safely return home on both sides of that border. Diplomacy remains the best path forward to protect civilians and achieve lasting stability in the region,” Harris concludes. TOI

IDF follow-up strikes eliminate Hezbollah missile unit, IRGC commanders - report. By Jerusalem Post Staff. 09/28/2024.

IDF strikes also targeted Hezbollah weapons depots and manufacturing sites in Beirut, Tyre, and the Bekaa Valley. IDF follow-up strikes on the Beirut suburb of Dahiya have eliminated a Hezbollah missile unit commander and his deputy and may have eliminated an IRGC commander, according to Israeli media early Saturday morning.

The IDF struck several targets across the country only hours after a strike on Beirut, which targeted and killed Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

The Israeli military that the commander of Hezbollah's missile unit, Muhammad Ali Ismail, and his deputy, Hossein Ahmed Ismail, had also been killed in southern Lebanon.

Ali Ismail was responsible for many attacks against Israel, including the launch of missiles toward the center of the country on September 25, according to Walla.

IDF strikes also targeted Hezbollah weapons depots and manufacturing sites in Beirut. The military had forewarned residents of these districts that they would need to evacuate immediately, only a few hours prior.

Hezbollah denied that the targeted buildings were used as weapons depots.

The IDF also launched a series of strikes on the area near the southern Lebanese city of Tyre after rockets had been launched at Safed.

Several hours later, the IDF updated that it had also struck Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley.

IRGC commander eliminated. Additionally, IRGC commander Abbas Nilforoushan may have been eliminated in the IDF strike on the Beirut suburb Dahiya, according to Iranian media.
