Project 33: The U.S. Navy’s Plan to Beat China in a War?
National Security Journal ^ | 9/25/2024 | Brent M. Eastwood

Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Lisa Franchetti is fantastic. She is the first woman to be CNO and the first woman to serve on the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Franchetti displays a soft touch when caring for individual sailors and their families and a unique toughness in naval warfighting. This is the correct combination of traits necessary to address future threats to the Navy, especially as the maritime branch ponders what to do about China.

Now, Franchetti has overseen the development of a new maritime strategy to counteract Beijing’s efforts to dominate the United States in the Indo-Pacific. Dubbed by some as “Project 33,” it is a starting point for using future trends in warfare to ensure the Navy comes out on top during any conflict with the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) by 2027.

The problem is China has thousands of ballistic, cruise and now hypersonic missiles ready to take out U.S. bases and naval assets quickly. We don't have enough missile bases or hardened bases. What do we do about that?

I see all kinds of signs that the US wants to start big wars with lots of people. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

Does our plan to defeat the Chinese Navy involve running one of our oil tankers aground on a sandbar near their fleet?

The Main Project 33 Targets Are

-“Ready the force by eliminating ship, submarine, and aircraft maintenance delays

-Scale robotic and autonomous systems to integrate more platforms at speed

-Create the command centers our fleets need to win on a distributed battlefield

-Recruit and retain the force we need to get more players on the field

-Deliver a quality of service commensurate with the sacrifices of our sailors

-Train for combat as we plan to fight, in the real world and virtually

-Restore the critical infrastructure that sustains and like projects the fight from shore”

Pretty standard stuff.

Hm. Her “new maritime strategy” sounds like not much more than “do your jobs.” Well, maybe that is new.

The U.S. military is designed to fight adversaries who wear sandals, and has a difficult time even doing that well.

The Department of Defense is basically a massive welfare program for white people.

--- "This is the correct combination of traits necessary to address future threats to the Navy...."

Pride celebrations under Franchetti are not answered by Big Horn running aground. The only oiler in a fleet out of service is not a matter of pride. This has been decades in the making, and new oilers are not actually ready for service with several, post-launch, in docks being repaired.... The "correct combination of traits necessary" is public relations of the Democrat-administrative sort, all the while acting President Jill and her co-president Blinken have managed quite nicely to conduct a military strategy of press releases and press releases and press releases. Load another salvo of lick spittle and fire!

But notice the journalism -- "threats to the Navy" should be threats to the United States. That alone says a lot.

Project 33. Sounds ominous. I was expecting something like freaking sharks with laser beams attached to their heads.

Beat China? China owns U.S. politicians. No one intends to oppose them.

best thing the American leadership can do is prepare for full scale invasion by china from without and from within by disarming the typical American citizen, which liberal democrats and their complicit rinoclass cronies have been trying to do for DECADES! after all, “an American rifle behind every blade of grass” means nothing when the typical American citizen can’t even own one due to the typical China-paid American politicians. it’s also the reason the Japanese imperial army didn’t invade our homeland during WWll. interesting that we saved China’s ass from speaking Japanese instead of mandarin and the only lesson china learned is to disarm every American possible for an easy invasion. my how far we have fallen and how much we have forgotten. “”higher”education has drugged the mind of the typical college graduate who thinks the enemy can be negotiated with” L.Star

In short without the fluff, our Navy is hosed. That's a helluva price to pay for being stylish.

Our Navy has *been* hosed since we decided the LCS was going to take over roles from destroyers, that we weren’t going to be making any more frigates and that we were going to make new superdestroyers that have no functioning main gun and no easy way to rearm them. And then we only built three of them. And then we built more LCS.

We’re playing catchup now, but....
