Barack Obama Says Republicans Aren't Generous [semi-satire]
Semi-News/Semi-Satire ^ | 25 August 2024 | John Semmens

Posted on 08/27/2024 10:24:48 AM PDT by John Semmens

Also at the Democrat Convention last week, former President Barack Obama claimed that "unlike Democrats, Republicans believe that generosity is for suckers. They believe it's okay to take what you want. They don't care about the less fortunate or the needs of others. As Democrats our job is to convince people that democracy can actually deliver. We can't just rely on the ideas of the past. We need to chart a new way forward to meet the challenges of today."

Like so many of the things he has said since he's been in politics, the claim that Republicans aren't generous is false. The statistics collected by Philanthropy Roundtable show that Republicans were identified as the "heaviest" givers, which amount to $5,000 or more per year. Twelve percent of Republicans fell in that category, compared to 4% of Democrats and 3% of independents.

Republicans were also identified as the most "heavy" givers, which includes giving anywhere from $1,000-$5,000 per year. Nineteen percent of Republicans fell under that category, compared to jut 13% of Democrats and 17% of independents. Democrats were the champions of "light" giving — $0-$99 per year, as 35% fell into that category, compared to 29% of independents and 19% of Republicans. Individual conservative donors — even with less income than self-described liberals — give 30% more than their left-wing counterparts.

Obama pointed out that "those are all voluntary donations completely at the discretion of each individual. Philanthropy Roundtable fails to credit Democrats for voting to spend the money collected from taxpayers on worthy causes. These involuntary donations are in the trillions and easily dwarf the modest amounts that individuals give out of their own pockets. In contrast, Republicans in Congress and the voting booth typically oppose these expenditures. So, I think in terms of results achieved Democrats have done more to ensure that everyone gives their fair share, willing or not."

Note: Obama thinks being forced to give your money away to things you may not approve of is what makes democrats more generous, a complete and disguising moral inversion.

Obama: “Do you want proof? It was all Democrats at Netflix, which gave me $140 million! Not a Republican in the entire company!”

Nice John. All too often, people fail to understand how confiscatory taxes are unjust and a true barrier to charity and philanthropy. This posting does that in a simple and humorous way. Good one.

Obozo forgot to mention that the generosity shown to dems comes from cartels who must have borders open to operate. So the cartels keep bankrolling the dems wanting them to win in November.

This is Barry’s way of virtue signaling, of course, but Marxists seek their power through redistributing Other People’s Money, like with handouts as a consequence of fleecing taxpayers through open borders or ineffectual, artificial constructs like slush funds amassed through “Climate Change,” not by giving the needy from their own hard-earned modesties.

I know it's hard to tell, given what he'll say with a straight face--but I hope you picked up that the hilarious 0bama "quote" was deadly satire--way more honest than anything Barry the Bum would actually say.

OMG, what utter BS! It is well established that conservatives are personally far more generous than Democrats. Democrats are only “generous” dispensing taxpayer money to buy votes.

It’s a well-known fact that Republicans are better donors to charity, plus most of us tithe!

Barry should ask his former VP, SloJoe, about "generosity".

In the decade leading up to the '08 election, the two Bidens - on a combined annual salary of upwards of $300k, averaged a few hundred dollars a year of charitable contributions.  IIRC, one year they only donated a measly $120.
