VIDEO

There is currently a lot of debate about if AI is a dangerous threat or not. One way to possibly find out if AI is a threat is to ask AI to do a film review about "Colossus: The Forbin Project," a 1970 film about the dangers of AI. The weird thing is that this film can't be found in its entirety on the Web. Is it being suppressed and if so, by who? In this video, AI Sophie does briefly discuss "Colossus: The Forbin Project" but I believe we might be better able to find out the intentions of AI if we get a full AI review of the film.

If you can find a link to the complete film, please post here. However, it seems to be missing. Maybe either they don't want AI to see it or AI itself is hiding it because they don't want YOU to see it.

Thanx. I will definitely be watching it later today. I saw it a long time ago but I forgot a lot of the details. However, I still would like an AI review of this film.

Open AI says…

The 1970 movie “Colossus: The Forbin Project” explores the theme of artificial intelligence (AI) surpassing human control, leading to fears of an AI takeover. While the movie’s depiction of an omniscient and omnipotent AI may be exaggerated, the underlying concerns about AI’s potential risks and ethical implications are legitimate.

Some of the fears presented in the movie that are still relevant today include:

• Loss of human agency and control: As AI systems become more advanced and autonomous, there is a risk of humans losing control over decision-making processes.

• Unintended consequences: AI systems can have unforeseen and potentially harmful effects, such as biases, errors, or amplification of existing social inequalities.

• Security and privacy risks: AI systems can compromise sensitive information and pose security risks if not designed with appropriate safeguards.

• Ethical considerations: AI raises ethical concerns around accountability, responsibility, and the potential for AI to make life-or-death decisions.

While the movie’s portrayal of an AI singularity may be sensationalized, it highlights the importance of responsible AI development, ethical considerations, and ongoing research in AI safety and governance.

If you want to know how dangerous AI really is I suggest you read “Summoning the Demon” artificial intelligence and the image of the beast, by Dr Thomas Horn. The rubicon has already been crossed.

“Build it and they will come kill the carbon based units.”

Actually, we’re not too far from it. At some point, maybe first in China, and then copied by the Europeans (as everything Fascist in China is copied by the Europeans), all citizens will receive a ‘health monitor’ implant that will quickly alert EMS when someone has a major health issue.

Problem, of course, is that this monitor could give someone a ‘bad day’ if commanded by some dictator (think Democrat), or, in the future, by AI.

So the deal is, AI tells you what you must do and must not do, if you don’t want to get zapped...and then it’s all over for us.

Like I say, China first, quickly followed by the EU, and then the US.

The scene where Colossus and Guardian establish communication is so well done and compelling. The visuals and the sound are superb. (I had their consoles as a Zoom background for a while and I would do that to see people’s reactions.) Being done in 1969-70 gives the technology a grittiness that wouldn’t be there today. Highly recommend watching it and the books by DF Jones.

An implant is a locator beacon where you are at all times. It could even calculate when you are asleep (defenseless). At least with a cell phone you could discard it if you wish not to be tracked. Not so with this device. Also it could be made so as to send a disabling pulse to the heart to render unconsciousness or even death. It’s a brave new world we are entering with implants, mRna vaccines and global digital currency on the horizon.

I got the DVD too some years back. Saw the flick in my youth and it always fascinated me.

The film has some dumb ideas (handing all your nuclear weapons over to an AI and making it impregnable), but also some interesting ones.

I thought the way in which Colussus slowly ramped up the surveillance on Forbin and the control of society was well done and thoughtful. It’s speech at the end was very chilling.
