The Borderline Dance team, a regional women’s country line dance team, was invited to the Emerald City Hoedown in Seattle last weekend to perform by event organizers, the Rain Country Dance Association.
Rain Country Dance Association describes itself as creating “a friendly environment for LGBTQ people and friends to meet and dance in the Pacific Northwest. We support this Country Western dance community by providing opportunities to dance, learn, and perform. We cater to the LGBTQ community of Seattle and Greater Puget Sound but are open to
However, The Borderline Dance team’s American flag-themed shirts resulted in them being “effectively kicked out” of the event because some attendees felt “triggered and unsafe.”
The team shared a statement on Facebook:

The flag should not be used for clothing. It’s a flag to be respected.

There’s the problem.
That’s right.
I don’t blame you for that feeling.
They’re not wearing an actual flag, it’s “red, white and blue” clothing. I’d have a problem if they wore an actual flag or cut up an actual flag to make clothing...
If you’re being sarcastic, I apologize and missed...
But apparently they don't support our OWN Western Country.
When leftists are “triggered” or “offended”, it’s a social issue that should be treated with concern and cooperation.
When people on the right are offended, they are angry, morally judgemental, oppressive, bigots, and terrorists.
There is a pattern here.
Also, who would have ever thought that ANY group in the united states would think that the Amerian flag is offensive?
I think you should instantly have your citizenship revoked if you say the American flag is offensive.
Oh wait. If you weren’t a citizen, you’d get more protections and benefits. hmmmm
Rain Country Dance Association triggers me and I feel unsafe around them.
I demand the group be disbanded and all members leave the country.
I would agree with you IF they had used an actual flag for the clothing.
Based on your statement, no one should wear any red, white and blue shirts for any holiday including the 4th of July.
This is actual clothing made with red, white and blue..
I have no problem with it..
YMMD..
Anyone who feels *triggered* and *unsafe* when they see an American flag needs to leave the country that flag represents.
Not surprisingly if one does an internet search for “Rain Country Dance Association” a web site shows up. Now click on “Contact Us” so you can leave a message and a ‘404’ page not found appears.
I assume that they immediately got a massive amount of feedback and not all of it was supportive of the group’s actions.
....agree.....those tops those ladies are all wearing could hardly be considered as American flags....yes, there is a blue field with white stars on it, and there are red and white stripes on those tops, so.......but they ain’t flags...if others feel “triggered” and “unsafe” at seeing these very pretty ladies in their bright tops, then they need professional help in a big way....
FReeper rdl6989: There’s the problem.
I agree. And if you think about it, the LGBTQ Rain Dancers are sending a message that people who love the country have no place in their social group. To which I say, thanks for making it clear.
Likely some judges were virtue grandstanding.
Stimulus-Response mechanism, like a single cell organism. No thought involved.
if liberals are triggered by Patriotism, too friggin bad!
