doesn’t matter which big American city you go to these days, most are in absolutely horrendous condition. The public transportation system stinks of human waste. My old friend Professor Paul Magelli from the University of Illinois told me that when he took the Amtrak from Champaign to Chicago, it smelled like “piss”. Trains in other countries didn’t smell like that.
Richard Florida is a big urbanologist. He is an elite for sure. He tweeted out this article and it is worth reading. The author of the article is aware of what is happening in American cities, but like Richard Florida, totally unaware of what is causing it.
The author cites “regulations”. Richard Florida in his tweet decries the “centralization policies” of big cities.

Atlanta is better than most cities besides Nashville.
The small town I grew up in in Indiana is in significant decline and methheads seem to be the norm. In some rural areas it is getting worse as well.
I really liked Warsaw when I was there, their busses and metro are immaculate, and make it really easy to get around the city.
This is the kind of thing I am referring to when I repeatedly state on this forum and elsewhere “Demographics is destiny”. It amazes me how some people just do not realize what is happening to their country around them.
bkmk
Big cities are run by Dems. Unions which are supposed to maintain the mass transit are run by Dems.
Do the math.
My county is 2.3%.
In twenty three years I can count on one hand the number I’ve see in public.
Rural Hawaii doesn’t take well to troublemakers
and the population here is more diverse than any you
have ever seen.
The greatest shock I experienced was upon my return to the US after a professional life overseas.
A few election back, a black Chicago community activist named Tio Hardimann ran for governor of Illinois. He said the reason for the high rate of crime in Chicago is that there are too many bad people in Chicago. He hits the nail on the head, and although it sounds like a simplistic answer, it shows how radical the problem really is. Why are the cities squalid? Because a lot of squalid people live there. The cause of a lot of it are bad policies, and a change in policy can make a difference, but that’s not the whole solution. Squalid cities represent the evaporation of civilization. People choose how they are going to live. Why do the trains smell of excrement? It wasn’t a policy that caused that.
Just to be clear, I meant the progressive DemonRats. But monolithic voters for evil, death, destruction… are also implied.
Cities are hostile to raising families and other than the Grievance Industry and the Rape-The-Taxpayer Industry, cities don't support industry.
The mass transit programs are simply jobs programs. If they actually provide efficient transit, that's simply a collateral benefit.
Are you referring to the inner part of a city when you sat they are hostile to raising families ?
…Most cities have large residential ,family friendly neighborhoods .
…
Probably eastern Europe too.
I totally believe it knowing Poles and Polish neighborhoods.
I venture to say that you don’t have to worry about getting mugged either as you do here in the states.
In some cultures folks will sweep the street in front of their house to keep it clean, in others folks will wallow in their own feces and do nothing at all to change that.
Some cultures, like the former above, tend to be generally successful on many different levels, some, like the latter, will not develop beyond the most basic human functions of mere existence.
You cannot change the latter by throwing money at them, if at all. “It” just isn’t there. *shrug*
