Politico had an unusual homework assignment for a number of futurists, political analysts, and prognosticators. It was to put on their Nostradamus caps to predict what, if any, Black Swan events could affect the 2024 presidential election. The results ranged from the somewhat reasonable to the downright bizarre as you can see in Friday's "The Unpredictable But Entirely Possible Events That Could Throw 2024 Into Turmoil."
One of the assignees was the melodramatic Marquette University political science professor, Julia Azari, who rather than write a simple prediction interpreted her job as writing a novel starting with the very Hemingwayisque title of her absurdly specific thus unintentionally hilarious prognostication, "Death at a Trump rally."

I believe they’ve already cooked up the fix.
I further believe that if anyone other than Trump wins, there will be blood in the streets. Lots of blood in lots of streets.
I thought black swan events were pretty much unpredictable by definition.
It should be an interesting year.
I wonder what the powers that be have in store for us?
Whatever it is, it’s not going to be pretty.
And it certainly will be nasty for us.

Me too. And I predict it will be something really simple. Find a woman who is willing to say that Trump did terrible things to her. Trot that woman out a week before the election.
Then have the media talk about it nonstop.
The woman would later be discredited. But the election will be over by then.
This is not a new trick. What’s new is that the candidate’s party will just stand by and let it happen.
Here is a hilarious article (if you share my dark sense of humor) showing just how fragile the economy is right now:
Short version:
The largest state pension fund invested heavily in commercial real estate (CRE) which has crashed in value.
If they liquidate the CRE their holdings are large enough that they could destroy the entire CRE market nationwide.
That in turn would bring down most of the banking system—especially regional banks who have more outstanding CRE loans than they have equity.
However—the pension fund needs cash to pay the retired teachers—now.
Solution: Borrow 6 billion dollars to meet their obligations this year.
Remember—after you max out all your credit cards your best move is to try to find somebody stupid enough to give you another one!
“I thought black swan events were pretty much unpredictable by definition.”
exactly ...
People use it when they mean "a perfect storm" too.
Ah yes. The easily predicted Black Swan event that they assure us is about to happen within the next 10 months.
That’s just what a black swan is. LOL
“Tuesday we are expecting an unexpected Black Swan...”
Well, they shouldn’t. Not the same things at all.
By the way, if Trump wins, there will be blood in the streets... and torched buildings too.
So really, either way, it’s coming.
Bugs me, too. Just like when people use “anymore” when they mean “nowadays.” Fingernails on the chalkboard.
Or “exasperate” when they mean “exacerbate”, and so many others. I seldom bother to correct such errors anymore. :)
I contribute the prognostication that if Trump DOES win, there will also be blood in the streets, just the same. Authored by BLM et.al. and etc.
Either way, it’ll be bad...
Yep, 2024 is definitely going to be a swim through murky waters. Both sides are divided. One side is rabid, one side is sitting back. Problem is those sitting back aren’t remotely as organized as the other side. Not sure how the beginning is going to go but I’m with everyone else, looks bad.
