In the documentary What Killed Michael Brown?, Shelby Steele coins the term “poetic truth” in order to describe the persistence of the myth that Michael Brown was “executed” by Darren Wilson. Steele calls poetic truth, “a distortion of the actual truth that we use to sue for leverage and power in the world. It is a partisan version of reality, a storyline that we put forward to build our case.” Poetic truth “thri[ves] more by coercion than reason,” accusing all who dispute it of complicity with the ineradicably racist system that governs and has always governed the country.
That Darren Wilson executed Michael Brown is one such poetic truth; that Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd is, I believe, another. Despite the aptness of Steele’s term, poetic truth is no truth at all, nor is it particularly poetic. It is power masquerading as fact, brute force in the guise of knowledge. The cities that burned across the country following Floyd’s death were expressions of such a truth, as was the incarceration of the police officers convicted of a crime they did not commit. The scramble to implement race-based policies and quotas, to elevate self-appointed gurus of “antiracism,” and to proclaim, against all evidence, the unreconstructed nature of American society were all tendrils of the same truth, which still threatens to assert itself whenever an incident emerges that fits its preferred pattern.
The cost in life, limb, and property incurred by this particular poetic truth would be bad enough. But I fear that, in the aftermath, when the embers have cooled and Chauvin’s name has been forgotten by everyone save his family, the true danger of the poetic truth of George Floyd will come to fruition....

Who TF cares?! Why post this crap.
Who wants to tell this guy about masks? Or the COVID vaccines?
John McWhorter & Glenn Loury are two black intellectuals who eschew the typical political narrative re blacks in America and the woke oppressed/opressor dichotomy associated with it. Even so, they swallowed the George Floyd story hook, line and sinker. For them to be honest enough to change their position in view of their new understanding of the facts is an important development. It's going to take an awakening of people like them if Derek Chauvin is ever going to receive justice.
So, discussing the pretext used for burning America's urban downtowns, launching Neo-marxist BLM upon America, social-engineering America's media and schools, and enfeebling America's local police departments, such that an additional 10,000 blacks have died from murder and traffic accidents since George Floyd - is "crap?"
Maybe you want to explain your stance.
The medical examiner took a swab and determined that Floyd had Covid19. Isn’t it CDC policy that if you died with Covid, that you died from Covid? George Floyd died with/from Covid.
Politics aside, I don’t care. This was a bad cop that cost one life and destroyed several careers.
Don’t worry, they’ll find another “poetic truth” to launch riots across the country next summer, leading up to the election.
Bad cop? Howso?
You didn’t listen to the conversation, did you?
Yes, that's what the article concludes.
You need to watch “The Fall of Minneapolis.” It’s amazing how much evidence was ignored in order to obtain the conviction. It’s hard to imagine such a thing could happen in America.

yes
Floyd swallowed the fentanyl he was selling. You can bet he did not care who died as he also had earlier pointed a gun at a pregnant woman’s stomach when he did a home invasion in Texas.
