Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Now that you mention it, it does.
That’s is how my kids most recent cat got it’s name... Ghost.
We knew the cat was in the house... but without a hidden camera, you’d hardly know it.
Even now that they are all living in a new house, Ghost is still a reclusive sort and does not allow herself to be petted...
Yes, baby-proofing the place was in the works, but I hadn’t gotten as far as the bedroom. It’s now a must-do!
I don’t need a vet’s bill because of my own stupid laziness.
I’ll go pick up my groceries tomorrow, not as early as I wanted to because of the prescription needing to be picked up. The pharmacy on the way home doesn’t open until 0900 and I don’t want to use up too much gas, running back and forth between places.
I could change Chip’s name to Chip-off-the-old-Ghost. If I didn’t know he was here, I wouldn’t know he was here!
I don’t know if he’ll ever allow himself to be petted, but I would like to brush his long fine hair.
And Zz’s looks like a shorter version!
My cat got its tail caught in the door!
My cat hasn’t been seen lately. He’s probably in bed with Vlad.
I just realized that while I’ve been sleeping at night, Chip has been having fun flying to every flat surface to see what’s up there.
He hasn’t knocked anything to the floor, but I think he’s just curious, and making sure that everything in here has my smell and no one else’s.
There are little (and not-so-little) grains of litter on all the surfaces! Or foot impressions in the soft ones. So he is, in his own way, adjusting to being here.
PS: He is a tuxedo, but he is definitely chocolate, except for his reddish tail, which has a white tip on it. I lost him for a bit, but found him in the lower kitchen cupboard, which has no partition to the storage under the sink.
Because of the chemicals under there, I’ve had to order baby-proof gizmos for the cupboards. They’ll be here tomorrow. I’ll also have to put some in the bathroom. There are other, safer places for him in this apartment.
And yes if he weighs 8# it will surprise me. He really is a pretty cat, and I just did the slow wink to him, so maybe that will help.
It seems the places where spring comes quickly have tornados.
I guess I’ll take being cold when I’d rather be warm. It’s easy to complain about the weather, but it could always be worse.
At least he’s quiet. And he probably enjoys having enough room to jump around.
He had room to jump around at the sanctuary, but there were so many other cats that trying to find any bed that wasn’t already taken must have been rugged. Poor baby.
Like I said earlier, I think he’s just making sure this is all his and that he doesn’t have to share it.
I’m going to fix his food in a minute and see if I can coax him out. I dunno how it’s going to work, getting him out long enough to safety-proof the doors tomorrow, but I’ll keep working on it. Sooner or later, he’ll go back behind the sofa.
Patience, patience. You can safety-proof the doors one at a time!
When it comes to this cat, I have all the patience in the world, as I’ve said before. With all the abuse he took as a feral and the stress he was under at the sanctuary, I’m not going to try and force him into doing anything.
I worry about the chemicals, but he’ll come out, sooner or later and the doors can be locked then. Eventually....

My daughter is swinging a Tristar O/U break-action in 12ga with an adjustable competition stock.
The kids burn 50 rounds at every practice and at least 100 at every competition. If there’s a tie, they’ll burn through another 25, and maybe another 25 in elimination.
There’s guys on the Varsity squat hitting 94/100 so it’s serious business trying to get top ranking.

Good morning. I hope you had a good night.
It’s 51° out, and will be 73° today, but for the next four days, we’ll be lucky to hit 60°, with rain on a couple of days and overcast the rest. Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous.
Chip is still in the cupboard, but at least in there, he can’t get into too much mischief. Well, the chemicals, but I can take them out for the duration.
Nothing on the docket today but to wait for my company. I met her in Cabot when she was on her mission, but she’s been home almost a year and lives outside of Provo. I’ll find out more, today. She’s a sweet girl! And it’s nice of her to visit. She’s coming with “someone” but didn’t say if it was family or friends, nor how many, so when I get back from my errands this morning, I’ll have to make room for them!
My little folding chair is still seeing a lot of use!
Actually, I can't. They have to be done all at once. The layout of the kitchen cabinets was done on the cheap. The cupboards under the sink join with the cupboard in the corner: There is no partition.
The only separation is that the latter has a shelf for food or whatever. Chip is on the lower shelf, which means he's with the chemicals, and there's nothing I can do except lock the doors under the sink and the one in the corner.
Inconvenient, yes, but I have to protect the Chipster!
In Cabot, I had a shortage of drawers. Here I have a shortage of cupboards. And with accordion doors on all the closets, he can't get into any of them. So no hidey-holes in there!
