Homeowner Locked Out Of House Pleads with His Feline Companions To Let Him In
The Pet Zealot ^ | December 01, 2023 | James Alain L.

Cats have always been known for their mysterious and independent nature. They can be a source of unconditional love and comfort for their humans, but they also possess a streak of cunning and aloofness. In a recent incident, a homeowner found himself locked out of his house, with the keys safely inside. Little did he know, his feline companions held the power to either let him in or leave him stranded outside.

UTIs are very common with CFIDS, so after my 6th or 100th UTI, knowing they would be part of my life I didn’t want, I decided to do something a little radical. (I contracted CFIDS in my mid-40s)

I began to take olive leaf extract four times a day. That was in 2000, or 2001. I swear by them. After being on really strong aggressive antibiotics for nearly two months in January and February this year, I was dreading the UTI that usually followed. It didn’t. No UTI.

The olive leaf extract has been doing what I take it for — it is, as the nickname implies, “nature’s antibiotic.” It can’t be started and stopped, though. If it’s started, one has to pretty much decide to take it the rest of one’s life.

Yikes! Having the elders falling down is NOT optimal. My Mother stumbled on the stairs where she lives. She didn’t get hurt, but they’ve asked her to use the elevator exclusively. Notably, she used to get out and take a long-ish walk every day, but hadn’t been for several months.

I felt like she was getting less stable on her feet for having not, and urged her to get back into the habit. She’d been a bit dismissive, until the bit on the stairs, and now she’s been pretty regular about getting her steps in. It’s all indoors, which is somewhat boring, but means that inclement weather won’t put the clamps on her routine.

My adventure into the Wordlesphere didn’t give me much to work with, initially, but I parlayed it by a clever stratagem into victory in 3.

A strange cat just came up to the back door, saying Meow like it lives here. I closed the door, and hopefully it will go away. I don’t need Jake to get into a fight and generate more vet bills.

Maybe that’s who killed a bird last week.

Good Friday Morning!

That seems like a focused pair!

We are off to the vets soon with all 4 dogs for their annual visit and shots... all don’t fit in one, so it is a two truck trip... thankfully it isn’t too far away!

Rains never came as forecast.... still a slight chance for this AM I think...

Decent Wordle outing...

When we had two cats, I would take them to the vet on different days. Good luck!

M-I-L’s feet looked like a train wreck. The foot that she couldn’t put weight on had a big toe sticking almost straight up into the air. I suspect some arthritis in her feet, which she won’t complain about, is making it hard for her to walk.

Good morning. Happy Friday!

When Mrs. ArGee went over yesterday there was no hint there’d been a problem the night before. Her mom didn’t like the fact that we had washed her clothes. (Her lack of willingness to bathe and change outfits makes her a bit odiferous, which her daughter just hates. So Mrs. ArGee will insist when she can.)

We have sun and colder today but warming up tomorrow leading to evening showers. I will probably be helping F-I-L with pine cones and sticks tomorrow. He’ll want me to use the riding mower. I’d rather just rake.

I had a decent Wordle today.

The olive leaf extract is one of those herbs that becomes more effective the longer it is used.

Oh, okay... but nothing bad happens if you have to stop it for a period of time? (For whatever odd reason may crop up...)

No, nothing bad happens. Except if one is prone to UTIs, then one will get UTIs. I’d rather not have them, so I take it every day. It’s not expensive as herbal supplements go, so it’s worth taking to ward off the UTIs.

Good morning.

I hope you slept well last night.

We have 35Β°, with wind of 11 mph coming straight out of the north. *brr-r-r-r!* I’ll go in as soon as I finish this post and take my shower so I can warm up.

No, ol’ man Jake doesn’t need to get into any fights. But that stranger oughta be run out of town.

There are a lot of cats around here, and they like to use my door as a marking post. I just sprayed it with Febreze for Pets.

Nothing doing today, except maybe getting a letter to Charlie written. Some days, that’s harder than others.

Lack of willingness to bathe often indicates clinical depression.

Mrs ArGee is right to encourage her mother to bathe and change into clean clothes.
