We drove from Leavenworth, WA to Whistler, BC today via the North Cascades Highway and through lots of small towns in the Cascades. Everything seems normal in small towns and backwoods in the northwest. I was talking to a sales manager at a lumber company in Winthrop, WA. He says lots of people from New England are moving there driving up prices. Many don’t last but a winter or two — Cascades winters are too tough even for New Englanders.
I talked with another guy in Bellingham, WA about the “good guys” leaving CA and moving to Idaho (including his uncle).
Everybody hopes it’s not northeast or CA liberals fleeing their soiled nests and bringing their ways with them.
Here in L.A. there are mentally ill homeless people, mostly young, roaming the streets ready to harass or even attack. It’s becoming dangerous to even take a walk around what used to be nice neighborhoods.
It’s unreal how fast things have gone bad.
Today I saw a homeless guy take a dump in broad daylight on a main street of Tacoma.
A few moments later, I saw a fentanyl addict light up his tinfoil on the stoop of a gun shop.

Post WW2, every institution in America had tremendous credibility: politicians, bureaucracy, business, labor, churches, military, police, courts.
That all failed starting in the 1960 and 1970s. Competence failures combined with exposed wrongdoing and corruption shattered the credibility of these institutions.
Initially, it was a zero sum game, with journalists and “public interest advocates” gaining as they exposed business and gov’t wrongdoing.
But eventually, people figured out that journalism and advocacy organizations were as much or even more corrupt than the business, politicians, police, military and churches they exposed.
The Current Regime captured these institutions just as their credibility was failing. Maybe you could say they captured them because their credibility was failing.
There is no way back for these institutions except by them restoring their competence and integrity. However, they have been captured by Woke Progressives who are making the competence and integrity situation worse and worse and worse by the day.
In my view there is no way around this, except through.
This Regime needs to collapse. These discredited institutions need to Fall and be replaced.
The true reason for the chaos is spiritual warfare. It is no longer left vs. right, it is good vs. evil.
Old guy should check his wording. Some of it sounds like a poor translation from a foreign language. A big turn off.
Economic conditions are fueling a shoplifting wave? Really? Is that really the cause of these brazen crimes?

Neither one of them tells new acquaintances what they did for a living.
One of them tells people he’s a retired U.S. marshal. The other one says he’s a retired USDA meat inspector.
That pretty much tells you all you need to know about how much our governing institutions have collapsed.

I visit these threads a lot, not because I want to read about misery, but to get some firsthand observations. Yours was fascinating.
