Former Vice President Mike Pence has claimed populism is a pathway to “defeat for the Republican Party.” Former President Donald Trump, the current 2024 GOP frontrunner, is known for his populist positions, which brought him support from many disenfranchised leftists and independents.
Pence made the comments during a Wednesday appearance on “America’s Newsroom” on Fox News.
“Well, look, you look at this Republican field, whether it’s my former running mate or some of his imitators, and there is a push in this Republican primary to to move us away from our party’s historic commitment to American leadership on the world stage, to a commitment to fiscal responsibility and reform in the face of a massive national debt crisis,” Pence began.
Pence continued, “You know, I came to this party, during the Reagan years, and and I really believe not only the pathway to victory for the Republican Party in the fall of 24, but the way we restore security and prosperity for the American people is to deliver a standard bearer and an agenda that’s built on that commonsense conservative agenda that has always delivered greater security and prosperity for the American people.”
“I think it’s a real choice in the party between whether we stay on the path of the traditional conservative agenda that’s defined this movement for the last 50 years and really is grounded in American ideals or whether we are going to follow the siren song of populism unmoored to conservative principles,” the longshot candidate added.
Pence concluded, “I really believe that’s a pathway not only to defeat for the Republican Party but ultimately it is the pathway to disappointment and decline for our party and for our country.”

Pence calls his old maid wife, Mother. Sounds like something out of a Alfred Hitchcock mystery.
Capitulation to the DNC which is all you RINOs espouse, Pence, is death for the GOP too.
Not that you’d notice.
No shit, Sherlock, but none of that is in opposition to populism. Meaninglessly blathering obvious truths does not a platform make.
Less than 3% of Republicans back Pence - - that tells you all you need to know about how popular his positions are with citizens.
Sure, he was Trump’s attempt to throw a bone to and appease the Christian wing of the conservatives, because Pence was seen as very strongly pro-life and of good moral character.
And those were areas that Trump himself was seen to be quite weak on at the time.
“Mike Pence: Populism is a Pathway to ‘Defeat for the Military Industrial Cabal’.
Hate is earned in politics and Pence certainly earned it.
Mike.....our dog scores higher in the polls than you.
Hes STILL A DEMOCRAT!
World stage? Eff the GD world stage. Eff you too Pence. It's way past time to take care of our people and OUR country. GD bastards.

Pence has DEAD EYES!
They all loathe populism but steadfastly embrace the democrat ideal of mob rule.
Translation: Nobody likes me, but you should elect me anyways.
The CORRUPT DOJ NOT GOING AFTER PENCE WAS A BIG TELL!
Judas Pence.
“Populism” = Anything I disagree with.
I fully believe President Trump was blackmailed into picking Pence as well as all the traitorous people in his Cabinet and the rest of his administration.
Trump is totally pro America but he was not a savvy politically so Pence ended up being slipped in on him. Once he won, the Swamp people of the Republican Party, McConnell, Boehner, Ryan, etc... blackmailed Trump by threatening to not let him do a single thing during the four years in office, and I mean they would use everything including traitorous plants at the White House to completely stop Trump from doing anything, and I mean ANYTHING.
Trump had to accept this and then had to create a strategy to work with, yet fight these un-American pieces of human garbage.
Trump is what we needed then and still need today, and we should not have to pick politicians on the grounds they know how to maneuver in the system. There should be no system and it needs to be dismantled, like Trump is talking about. The system was created by politicians to keep real people out and to enrich themselves with money and power. It is a corruption of everything our Founding Fathers fought for.
Same way Bush I became VPOTUS. RNC told Trump, Pence or nobody.
Pence doesn’t need to worry about being popular.
