Four very powerful billionaires—Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Marc Andreessen—are creating a world where “nothing is true and all is spectacle.” If we are to inquire how we got to a place of radical income inequality, post-truth reality, and the looming potential for a second American Civil War, we need look no further than these four—“the biggest wallets,” to paraphrase historian Timothy Snyder, “paying for the most blinding lights.”

How much of their money comes from government contracts ?
They hate reality because the fact is, in the real world, they aren’t mini gods who rule the world
So they wish to tear down reality and make us all subjects to their invented world where they are the “saviors” of the universe
Musk and Thiel suck on a government tit. Zuk and Marc Andreessen have their own money.
They’re all psychos.
Weird to include Elon Musk; Weird to exclude Larry Page of “Alphabet” formerly CEO of Google.
Your comment is doing exactly what you adivise others not to do.
This is typical of our current culture. A marketplace of ideas is American. Don’t allow a marketplace is now the trend....in many places.
What alternate reality is Donald Trump trying to invite people into exactly?
Also, what lies as Donald Trump told us? Does he exaggerate? To a degree at times. For the most part though, he has told us the truth. Has he gotten some things wrong? Perhaps. Time will reveal more on that topic when the dust has time to settle.
This book was associated with the Paris riots of 1968. The book (and the riots) were supportive of communism. Slogans of the era included "Never work" and "I take my dreams for reality because I believe in the reality of my dreams".
There was a lot of muddy thinking back then. Then the world matured a little and became somewhat responsible. But today we see it all slipping back into a fantasy and a spectacle. The people are sheep and just want to be entertained to death. Meanwhile, the oligarchs create a global economy that is reminiscent of slavery. And it's all based on lies.
Also weird to exclude Soros
No Soros or Gates.
Or Mike Bloomberg and Tom Steyer.
Or Klaus Schwab.
There is a simple solution. Ignore everything they do and create. They can’t manipulate if you don’t play their games.
This is spot on. It’s a familiar topic: red pill vs. blue pill. We are raising a generation that will be eager to crawl into their cubicles in the matrix, as in the movie, plug into the program, and — with a little assist from the rapidly expanding cornucopia of mood-altering drugs — embrace the illusion as liberation. The TikTokers are halfway there already.
Unless you have a persecution complex or have personal issues - why the need post FRs rules at the top of your threads?
OP is not preventing a discussion of ideas or even conflicting ones. OP is reminding readers that personal attacks, rudeness, threats of violence, profanity, hit and run insults, general chatroom adolescent behavior, flaming and off-the-cuff disrespect aimed at the OP or others on a thread, are all verboten on FR. Don’t muddy the issue. You know full well what the OP is talking about.
Marc Andreessen?! People still care about him?
Yes, and as Transhumanism is modern Gnosticism, they'll be escaping the illusion of evil matter.
Unless I am mistaken, comment #2 above is aimed at discouraging posters who seek to prevent the development of a marketplace of ideas.
